Excellent all round - review added on Sat 26th Jul 2003
An excellent family evening, leaving us all feeling well fed, well watered and contented. The service was delivered with charm and made the evening. Thank you.

The best restaurant in Bristol - review added on Mon 11th Dec 2006
This small but cosy escape into the world of good cuisine and excellent service must not be missed. It has retained its charm over the 25 years since I first sampled the wonderful atmosphere created by Renanto himself. We returned to it after too many years away for my daughter\'s graduation celebration, and it was just as brilliant as ever. Long may it continue!

The saltimbocca alla romana I had at Renato's in Feb 2008 was one of the worst restaurant meals I've had. The veal was tough, the proscuitto was crunchy and the only flavour was sage and salt. The vegetables supplied were cauliflower cheese with a black crust, dauphinoise potatoes with a black crust, and a tasteless celery gloop which was cold. The stuffed mushroom starter was barely better and came with a sauce that tatsed predominantly of vinegar.
Service was OK and I was offered an alternative but declined
