Yuk! - review added on Fri 14th Apr 2006
Waited 45 mins for a medium to well done steak which turned up burnt and black. They spent another 20mins cooking us another meal which again turned up totally burnt. The onion rings were also done to a frazel! Called the manageress who apologised and we left. I have used this place over a number of years and will never go there again. It is a shame as the place is homely but it is run by kids and hence it has gone down hill.

Not Impressed Any More. - review added on Sat 7th Jul 2007
Such a shame that this lovely place has staff who totally lack any customer service or cooking skills. Their answer to any complaint is to charge less, when actually it would be better to get decent staff and get the quality and service up and running again. Not to be recommended unfortunately.

What an awful experience! - review added on Mon 7th Apr 2008
Yesterday, Sunday, my husband and I visited Fowlers Farm in Braintree. It was busy and dark. My husband commented that he hoped the food would be okay because he wouldn't be able to see it!
His starter, prawns was good so we were off to a good start. However the roast beef was awful and the 'grilled' seabass was poached and served with what tasted like smash mash and uncooked spinich. Again unedible. The staff insisted that the smash was infact fresh potatoe and the fish grilled. Although it was dark I am not completely stupid. Grilled seabass would either have a crispy skin or some evidence of the 'grilling'. I was offered an alternative an opted for the baked camenbert slightly afraid that something would be done to it. I was told by my husband and a member of staff not to be so stupid. The baked camenbert was okay until I bit into a very large, whole, raw clove of garlic, obviously I would not have done this if I had seen it. There was not any mention of the garlic on the menu and I have searched the internet for this receipe. Although in about half of the receipe suggestions garlic is used it is always sliced thinly. Now I was angry. The fat little man just told be to stop shouting and denied everything- even though the evidence was clear. I imagine that we were supposed to just keep quiet and accept what we were given. This whole experience ruined my day completely.
