Great for Tequila! - review added on Mon 8th Oct 2001
A relaxed, friendly atmosphere, with pleasant and efficient waiting staff. I went on a Friday evening, and despite no table being left empty for a few minutes, the speed and quality of service was excellent. Good quality food - and plenty of it - at reasonable prices. The menu includes the usual Fajitas, Enchilandas and Chimichangas, plus variety of other Mexican dishes. A good range of Tequila cocktails is included on the drinks menu.

Mexican Place Rules! - review added on Tue 9th Oct 2001
Excellent food and large portions as well. The atmosphere is warm and the staff are really friendly. Their cocktails are very potent, with really nice selection. The good thing about That Mexican Place is you forget your even in Cheltenham due to the feel of the place and the food.Well recommended for large groups, senors and senoritas. Also good place for couples

Totally Great - review added on Mon 3rd Mar 2003
i love this place! I went there for my 18th last year and im going back this year again for several reasons. First it's good value, you really truly only need one course because they give you so much food and its really yummy too. The cocktails... ah the cocktails, so many different types to get you hammered! Service is great too. I go with around 15 other people and they handle it fine. And they give sweeties with the check! Not great for vegetarian / vegan (only a few veg and only one vegan dishes).

Fantastic - review added on Fri 13th Aug 2004
The staff are superb and greeted us very politely, although it was very busy and we couldn't get a table straight away we decided to sample a few of there amazingly potent cocktails. word of warning watch out for the Long Island Ice Teas they are strong. We were fortunate to get a table after about a 20 minute wait. The food was superb, I ordered the fajitas and they were amazing. I would recommend this place. watch out for strength of the cockails though, they will blow your head off.

Love it - review added on Mon 3rd Jan 2005
One of my all-time favourites. The food isn't hugely exceptional but it's good and the portions are very generous. The main thing for me is the atmosphere - the place has a brilliant buzz

This isn't Mexican, it's a Sad Joke - review added on Tue 13th Sep 2005
I'm afraid I have to agree with Mr Bollocks above. As soon as we arrived things began to go downhill. We ordered chips 'n Salsa, which in a Mexican context, means Tortillias. So the waitress bought us potatoe chips (fries). Don't they train the staff? The four of us ordered different dishes and drinks which I shall describe. The Long Island Ice tea had no ice in it and was warm (!!!) plus a big slug of lime cordial, so it tasted like neat cordial with a hint of tequila. When the waitress finally bought us tortillia chips (which weren't bad), she waited until we'd finished them (20mins) before telling the kitchen to bring us our mains (they're a nibble, not a starter). When the mains came, more dissapointment. My Chicken Fajita salad had nothing to do with Mexico and the Chicken had not been skillet cooked or seasoned, plus it had parsley all over it. Parsley? Where did these fools lean to cook; the local community college? The rest of the mains were equally as bland. The cooks obviosly don't taste their food and like many mexican restaurants in towns like this, the owners know sod-all about mexican food, but then neither do most of the mug punters that eat there.

A Great Restaurant - review added on Tue 3rd Apr 2007
I disagree with Mr Cresswell above, this is a fabulous restaurant, I have been here many times with my boyfriend and a couple of times with a large group of friends; the service has always been superb, the prices are excellent, and the food is delicious. I believe the food is actually authentically Mexican (as authentic as you can get in England anyway) and anyway it tastes great. Guaranteed to have a good evening out here.

Used To Be Good. - review added on Sun 12th Aug 2007
We used to go to That Mexican Place frequently and loved every visit. I don't know if it's in new hands but the menu has shrunk and the quality is less impressive. We're going to give it one more try then cross it off our list of favourites. Such a shame.

A Great Place - review added on Mon 10th Sep 2007
My sister and I always eat here when in Chelter's.I think some of the reviewers here need a reality check - it's a reasonably priced restaurant and not a Michelin stared place - too influenced by Michael Winner's rantings.Great place, great food, great service - reasonably priced.
