A Taste of Tradition - review added on Sun 16th Jan 2000
L'Escargot is in the heart of Soho, London's prime Eating Area, and it stands out. The decor is lush but restrained, the service is superb and whenever I've been there, the meal has been exquisite.L'Escargot is popular with the "Meejah"folk, but big enough to absorb them, rather than be taken over by trivia.A "Must"for visitors to London, but expect to pay for the privilege!

I expected more - review added on Thu 2nd Oct 2003
My wife and I were at L'Escargot last Saturday evening. We were quite pleased with the ambience and the first impression. Our table was in the Picasso room, very nice.We had Crab bisque and Pate for appetisers, both were delicious. When it came to order the wine, the waitress asked me to give her the reference number in the menu...not good, so I had to get the wine list and the number for her. From there on, wasn't too impressed. We had venison and haddock, which were alright, but not great.Dessert again was average, apple tart, not impressed. We paid £110 for the two of us. All in all, not what I expected for these prices, even being in London.

£15 menu great value - review added on Tue 7th Dec 2004
I have only been here using the £15 3-course meal thing, and it was great value. The food was delicious but the portions werent huge. We drank the house wine which was very good and the atmosphere lovely. Would love to eat of the proper menu if I could afford it
