Mexican at Gun Wharf Quays! - review added on Tue 7th Jun 2005
We sat upstairs so had a lovely view of Portsmouth Harbour. Plenty of tables outside for when its warm enough. Staff very friendly and attentive, we were asked several times if all OK. Atmospheric decor.Interesting menu with recommendations from the Executive Chef Rocky Durham, assume there are other Santa fe's around the country. Started with one of his recommendations, House Made Guacamole (prepared daily, with avocado, onion, coriander, lime and jalapeno pepper) served with freshly cooked corn tortilla chips. Excellent and would have been enough for 4 to have a nibble! Another one for next course, The Santa fe Green Chile Cheeseburger (seasoned lean mincedbeef with green chile and Monterey Jack cheese, wrapped in a warm flour tortilla) served with fries and house made chipotle ketchup. We also chose a Salmon Wrap (Grilled Atlantic salmon with capers, celery, spring onions and smoked chile dressing). We shared them for variety! Both full of flavour.... delicious and soooo filling! Couldn't manage a pud. Only drank spritzers as unfortunately both driving. An added extra, interesting loos!Cost approx £15, Reviewed May 2002 and revisited Oct 2004 with a similar experience
