Green Man Pub Restaurant - Hitchin, Hertfordshire

Description

Large pub with a wide range of meals. Whole menu is one large specials board and people travel from across the area for its food. Pub very busy all day Sunday so arrive early for Sunday Roast ! Child friendly (as long as you don't let them run wild!). The large conservatory at rear is the first place to get full and can feel quite cramped when all tables are full.

Customer Reviews for Green Man Pub Restaurant - Hitchin

Avoid during summer months - review added on Mon 2nd Aug 2004

Truely terrible. This establishment has a wasp problem, meaning the beer garden is unbearable during the summer months. Landlord appears to be unsympethetic towards this issue. Food is below par and overpriced. Best to avoid

Unsatisfactory Food - review added on Mon 16th Aug 2004

The service was not too bad however the food was quality and prep was terrible. One of us had duck stir fry a large plate full of noodles and 3 tiny pieces of duck. The vegetable and goats cheese stack was anything but this. It arrived as a bowl of mushed onions and peppers with a piece of goats cheese on top. Extremely disappointing, would not recommend. Also Wasp problem very bad.

What has happened? - review added on Mon 6th Dec 2004

This pub/restaurant used to be top class. A massive menu with lots of extraordinary meals. We used to go here often and take friends and family. Never again. The menu is still huge but they no longer seem to know how to cook it. Terrible service and bad food.

Used To Be Better - review added on Fri 13th Apr 2007

We used to visit the green man regularly and always found the food to be excellent quality. The meals were quite expensive but the size and quality of the food made it worth it. However, since it has changed hands i have visited twice and both times been extremely disappointed with the meal i have had. The portion size has been tiny and the quality of the food definately not the same.
