Consistently brilliant - review added on Thu 29th Apr 2004

Having first attended Franco's as a treat, I now eat there regularly and look for excuses to go! The waiters are attentive and amusing, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly - not at all snooty as you might expect given the impressively elegant surroundings. The food is always fantastic and having eaten my way through at least half the menu and never been anything less than delighted with my choices, I would happily recommend everything on it! The wine list is extensive and balanced but also has a large number from Franco's cellar that are ideal for pushing the boat out. Always finish with a Grappa!Franco's is my favourite restaurant - so much so that we are always the last to leave!

Disappointing - review added on Tue 1st Nov 2005

Although it's been recommended many times, our birthday celebration was a let-down. Ants were crawling on the wall by my shoulder throughout the entire night, waiters laughed it off and made no attempt to fix the problem or re-seat us. Then, the waiter refused to bring me parmesan since my pasta had seafood in it. I know this is a common recommendation not to mix the two, but it ruined my dinner, and I didn't eat it. Maitre'd sent glasses of champagne after dinner once he recognized my food was virtually untouched, but too little too late.
