The Fleece Inn (owned and recently renovated by Lord Halifax's estate) offers food which is definitely several notches up from normal pub grub. All dishes are home cooked and the menu caters for all tastes. I found both the food and service to be excellent and the bar has a good selection of real ales and wines. The village of Bishop Wilton is extremely picturesque and very popular with walkers. The pub is decorated in a very traditional style and has some wonderful original paintings and prints of local history. All in all The Fleece is a MUST if you find yourself East of York.
