Poor service and over priced food - review added on Sun 31st Aug 2003

I was so looking for to entertain my friends at the famous Hole in the Wall, where George Perry started gastronomic food in the UK. What happened to the place since? The manager (David) was just so rude and obviously would prefer not to be there on Saturday night. The mineral water never came, the red wine was at the right temperature for a champagne and the food had no imagination. Curly parsley for garnish and cracked pepper on the edge of the plate (Luckly no tomato skin on rose). The cremé brule was actually a cremé caramel... Terrible, never again.Editor's Note: Was this person just unlucky? If you have visited this restaurant, then please add your own review.

Relax in Bath - review added on Sat 21st Aug 2004

Part of the revival of British cuisine as a gourmet experience, but with a French flair. The waiters are of the old-fashioned type who wait discreetly until exactly the moment you need them, then appear unasked. The food is probably the best in Bath. Ambiance is subdued - this is a basement - combining sleek, minimalist decor with a background of period architecture, including large fireplaces and slate floors. Small children (for those brave enough to take them) are welcomed and are deftly handled - just the right amount of attention to their needs to keep them happy without encouraging any playing to the audience. This restaurant is more than worth it's premium.

Huge Disappointment - review added on Fri 15th Dec 2006

Despite coming highly recommended myself and my partner left highly disappointed. We were served by no less than 4 different waiters, many of the dishes on the menu were not available or incorrect although this was only mentioned when we were about to order, the dietary requirement I had requested on booking the table had been overlooked, the food was disappointing, we had to send back the main course three times, after paying the bill a waiter chased after us to say we had not been charged enough (they had taken the main course off the final bill) and when I sent a letter to the manager to express my disappointment, I had no response. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone
