Banana Mallows - Yummeeee! Small soft foamy sweets with an intense banana taste. Oh, and just to clarify, they are soft foam sweets rather than marshmallow... it`s very important to highlight this crucial difference (for all those marshmallow anoraks out there!)

Barker amp; Dobson Black and White Mints - These are absolutely delicious! We love the blend of rich dark liquorice and the bite of sweet refreshing mint. A classic and moreish combination from traditional sweet makers Barker and Dobson. STOP PRESS: Those pesky, meddling manufacturers have been up to their tricks again. They have changed the layers from... liquorice mint liquorice mint liquorice to... mint liquorice mint liquorice mint.It doesn`t sound much of a change but it means that the sweets are now much more minty with less liquorice... so if you`re after a liquorice hit you might be better off with Pontefract Cakes, Liquorice Cuttings or one of the other hard-core liquorice sweets.

Barratts Baby Comforters - Remember these? They were always in the sweetshop round the corner from my house, and I would always pick one or two up for my little white paper bag before jumping on my Space Hoppa and heading home! They`re fruit-flavoured jelly sweet comforters made by our pals at Barratts. Why would you want to buy a baby comforter made of jelly? I don`t know, but why not... they`re good!!!

There are two camps with regards to Shrimps: those that remember the little ones (these), and those that remember the bigger variety (aka Super Shrimps). So we had to get both just to keep everyone happy!!!! Whichever you remember, Shrimps are one of the real old favourites at A Quarter Of - .

Barratts Spogs (aka Jelly Buttons) - no we did not know these were called Spogs either (if you know of any other names for them please let us know!).They are the blue and pink aniseedy sweets out of liquorice allsorts - the ones you either head straight for or avoid like the plague (a bit like Marmite - love it or hate it - except you don`t get marmite in liquorice allsorts!!!)Apparently Spogs are also known as Horse Cakes. Bassetti - A real British classic - a firm favourite with those hardcore liquorice-loving fiends out there. Lovely shiny hard sticks of rich black liquorice, and one of our best-selling sweets. Now (getting the anorak out now), did you know that liquorice started being grown seriously in the UK back in the 1500s and was originally grown only in Pontefract, Yorkshire (yes, hence Pontefract Cakes!), due to its rich loamy soil. They take their liquorice so seriously in the town of Pontefract that they have a Liquorice Festival there every year - how cool is that?

Bassetts Liquorice Allsorts - wonderfully chewy, sometimes slightly coconutty. . . always liquoricy (except those pink and blue ones which don`t have any liquorice in! These are the proper Bassetts ones - we think they are just the best!
