Well, they\'re based on the historic Catherine Wheel - everyone knows them as a traditional firework, but the origins are much more gruesome than that.... Are you sitting comfortably? The original Catherine Wheel was the torture instrument on which St Catherine was martyred in the middle ages. Who would have thought that eating sweets could be so educational?!

Then we'll begin. . . the sweets were made by Mother Noblett's Toffee Shop in the Liverpool district of Everton. The black and white mints (reflecting the old Everton strip) were made to be distributed among the fans at matches, and they were jolly popular, just as they are today!So, there you go!
