Really good... nice 'n' cosy... service is always prompt... one of those places where can order anything and be happy with your choice and most of the time for me anyway, pleasantly surprized... recomended for all ages... all times of the year... quite seasonal with their decor which adds a personal family touch... a definite 8-9/10.

Just had our Christmas outing to the above and we were deeply impressed with the food and the service on what was a busy night for the staff. Must go down as one of the best meals we have had in a long time. WELL DONE to all involved!

Saturday closed until 5.00pm Fawlty Towers - review added on Mon 12th Sep 2005

We have just returned from a stay in the Cooleen Guest House and I can only say it was the nearest I have been to Fawlty Towers. We booked a double room a month ago for one night as we were going to a wedding in nearby Lissanoure castle. When we arrived on Saturday at 12.30 to check in and change into our wedding clothes there was no one there to meet us! A notice on the door told us that it would be open at 5.00 pm. Windows were open and even a door at the top of the fire escape. A phone number to contact was there also and we rang it and a member of staff arrived 12 minutes later to let us in. At NO time were we told of this arrangement. After getting our key we changed quickly as the wedding was at 2.30. Just then the staff member told us we would have to move to a twin room as the room we had was allocated to another couple!! We obliged and were moved into a dingy inferior room without a word of explanation. The first room had biscuits and tissues and a place to put our case which were not in the second room but to make up for that we had a good layer of dust on top of the mini wardrobe! For future reference ask for room 4 and leave room 7 to poor obliging idiots like us.

Local regular - review added on Sat 18th Feb 2006

This would be our local eaterie and on the whole we would all be impressed with cooleen. My only gripe would be that the menu has been static for about 3 yrs, a good selection of dishes and well cooked by local chef "chicken"! Cool nickname!! Book early at weekends or face trouble. My favourite meal there we chose about 7 starters WOW!!
