I ate at Cafe Francais two nights ago. We were a party of 6. It was appalling! Coquilles St. Jacques (my starter) was a couple of scallops in a very salty tomato puree with some slices of parmesan cheese on top. Casoulet (main course) did not have a tiny morsel of duck, as promised in the menu, but did include red kidney beans, butter beans, french green beans and a very vinegary tomato sauce! When I complained about the lack of duck, they decided to charge me for the vegetarian version instead, without acknowledging that I had no appetite for what was on my plate! There are mistakes on the menu (they think, for example, that saumon fume means roast salmon!!) I pointed out that it was in fact smoked salmon to provoke the response "Oh yes, lots of people tell us that". Also, as they spell their street address "Byers" Road (should be Byres) then there's clearly not much attention to detail in anything they do! Dreadful!!
