Customer Reviews for Lynwood House Seafood Restaurant - Barnstaple

The Seafood Restaurant at Lynwood House - review added on Wed 1st Dec 1999

This restaurant is priced at the higher end of the market and offers freshly prepared seafood dishes. The restaurant is particularly suitable for romantic and special occasions. The service is impeccable, the restaurant is overseen by the proprietor and the cooking is done by his wife and son.

I am a regular visitor and the last time the Chunky Fish Soup was as good as ever. For my main course I had their famous seafood thermidor, various fish cooked in a light white wine and cream sauce on a bed of rice. Always bubbling hot the dish came served with fresh organically grown vegetables. My wife had the Dover Sole, about 1ΒΌ lbs in weight. The fish was grilled with butter and served with chopped parsley, its plain cooking allowed the quality of the fish to stand out. Desserts are home-made, my cream caramel was made with devon double cream and was extremely rich and smooth. Freshly roasted coffee to finish with home made Belgian chocolate truffles. The wine list was varied and covered all the best wine regions. Particular emphasis is placed on white wines with the bulk of the choices being French
