Real authentic Chinese food - ignore the buffet - review added on Sun 17th Feb 2008
Best place in Chinatown for real Chinese everyday food. If you want authentic noodle dishes, roast duck/roast pork, plus lots and lots of homestyle dishes like stewed belly pork with pickled vegetables, this is the place. Cheap and cheerful, so don't expect luxury service or surroundings - but at £5-6 for huge dishes (plus free soup at lunchtime) you can't go wrong. DON'T bother with the buffet - it's for tourists only. Make sure they give you the LUNCH menu (even in the evening): if you find you're looking at pages of set meals, you've got the wrong menu. Wardour Street branch is often crowded with buffet eaters, which is a shame - they're missing out on the good stuff. Shaftesbury Ave branch doesn't have the buffet. Lisle Street branch is bigger and attempts to be a bit more upscale, but has same menu.
