The Zhalfrazi is not to messed with! - review added on Sat 4th Dec 2004
My favourite curry house in Hull by a fairly big margin. They are excellent at catering for big parties, and quite tolerant of parties who arrive having already consumed plenty of alcohol.I must have eaten there in excess of 20 times, and the food has been consistently good. (Though I have tended to have Lamb Balti dishes of one sort or another.) I don't generally do very hot curries, but I did try the Zhalfrazi once as part of a macho lads night out. Not content with finishing it, one of my fellow diners then initiated a 'dark green' chilli eating contest, which the waiters were amused to support. I don't think any of us slept that night, due to the burning sensation in our stomachs keeping us awake. But anyway, if you like hot curry, the Zhalfrazi will not disappoint, and if you like milder dishes there are plenty of contenders. The restaurant has a full bar, and the Lal Toofan Indian lager is a nice pint.Highly Recommended

Best in Hull - review added on Sat 26th Aug 2006
I've eaten lots of curry in a few different places and Raj wins hands down every time. The food is outstanding and the service and surroundings are just what you would expect from a restaurant with such a good reputation. Excellent!
