Cardiff Bay - Old Orleans ... - review added on Thu 18th Sep 2003
WEDS 17/09/03 - fairly quite - saw three couples leave due to the waiting time - when we were finally seated, the table and cutlery was dirty, a further 20 minutes wait for starter(char grilled chicken wings - moe like char burnt) ...went for burgers for main, these were so dry and over cooked, it's difficult to explain ... and all served by greasy haired spot ridden kids ...

What a Disaster!! - review added on Fri 19th Dec 2003
As usual at Christmas our comapny takes its staff out for a meal and some drinks. This year we (10 of us) went to Cardiff Bay for some 10 pin bowling and as we knew there was an Old Orleans restaurant nearby we tried to book a table beforehand. They didn't accept bookings. So we went to the bowling and turned up at the restaurant. We were told we could have a table as long as we were in and out in an hour! The restaurant was approx 75% full when we went in.Food arrived eventually 20/25 mins wait Everything was overcooked apart from the spare ribs which were almost raw. By this time restaurant only 10% full. I asked for the bill and gave Old Orleans discount card and company credit card to waiter. Signed a receipt showing the discount and one which I presumed to be credit card slip.Waiter returned with my copies of these and departed. We then went through to the bar area to have a couple of drinks. I was standing at the bar when a waiter ran up to us and accused us of leaving without paying our bill. We assured him that we had and that we were hardly doing a runner by sitting in the bar and ordering 10 drinks!!The manager then said to us extremely forcefully that we had not paid for the food. I asked his name and he replied that he would only tell us after we had paid the food bill!! I asked what the two receipts were that I had signed if they were not the discount note and the restaurant bill. No response apart from being told just to pay the bill and "don't come back". Against my better judgement I again gave the waiter my company credit card and again "paid the bill". The manager's behaviour and attitude was incredibly rude and provocative and had he not been talking to 2 Company Directors taking their staff on a staff night out then other customers may have not been so passive or polite. All in all a total disaster service, food, total lack of customer care from start to finish. Next time avoid this dump and go to the Old Orleans in Church Street where they know how to treat their customers, cook their food, and most importantly know how to manage their business properly.

Good for an unplanned meal - review added on Sat 20th Nov 2004
Normally head here before going to the pictures as myself and my husband follow a low carb diet and this is the best of the choice in the Cardiff Bay complex. The food isnt too bad, some of the waiters are a little dim, but they are in training and they have to start somewhere. The cajun mushrooms as a starter are enjoyable as are most of the main meals. I have always been able to exchange my fries and veg for a full salad with my steak, chicken or fish without a problem. The food can be a little overcooked at times, but on the whole a nice place.

Utter trash - review added on Tue 19th Feb 2008
I went for an early dinner about half 6. The place wasnt bust but the service was extremely slow. 3 tables surrounding us were served first even though they ordered after us. Our food was extremely dry, the coleslaw and salad on my plate were warm and the meat was not hot but warm again. My friend ordered a burger with blue cheese which again was very dry and had apiece of cheese about the size of a 5p. Would not visit again.
