Medal-winning Pavillon de Lobre sits between zippy Sauvignon and rich Chardonnay in style, so is highly recommended for entertaining. Villa Fiori Bianco
Villa Fiori Bianco - £5.39
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
A smooth clean and ripe white taking the best of two worlds - the indigenous Greganico grape from the warm climate of Sicily balanced with the Chardonnay from the cooler hillsides of the Abruzzan coast - Vino de Tavola in name only! Taking 85% Greganico from Sicily and 15% Chardonnay from the Abruzzo region (both areas had good vintages), young winemaker Scipione Giuliani was keen to make a blend he liked - subject to our approval - and not be constrained by appellation laws, hence the vino di Tavola tag. Excellent with fish in lemony sauces (or just to perk up the cold turkey platter), Villa Fiori's pale lemon colour exudes a simple slightly grassy nose and has a fresh, clean palate, hinting of ripe, floral peach. Very good as a lunchtime aperitif too. ''Everyone is talking about how fantastic today's best Sicilian wines are - and not without reason'' (Decanter). They're packed with flavour, character and are slightly wild, particularly when made with local grape varieties like Grecanico and Catarratto.

Oromonte Tempranillo Oak Aged 2005
Oromonte Tempranillo Oak Aged 2005 - £5.49
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
This smooth, oak-aged red comes From Spain's best vintage in a decade - 2005. Rich and velvety, with ripe bramble and strawberry aromas. The Oak ageing gives the wine a delicious touch of vanilla. Superb with roast lamb.

Il Papavero
Il Papavero - £5.49
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
This fabulous wine, loved by all, is made from the juiciest red grapes cherry-picked in the 'heel' of Italy. Show judges and writers are all smitten and just can't get enough of it! Papavero's remarkable popularity is down to two simple things: hugely seductive, soft black-cherry flavours and fantastic value for money. As one wine writer famously stated ''if all table wine were this good, no-one would ever leave the table!'' Smooth, velvety black fruit flavours, with an enticing hint of spice from the dash of Sicily's Nero d'Avola grape. Delightful with pasta and cheeses ... or simply enjoyed on its own!

Poggio di Ettore
Poggio di Ettore - £5.49
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
As a thank you for your continuing support, gifted winemaker Ettore Galasso has let us in on a treat. Usually the exclusive preserve of Ettore's family and friends, this satin-smooth Montepulciano is filled with fresh cherry flavour. Local wine laws only allow Ettore to release a set amount of this Gold medal Montepulciano each year. Handcrafted in the same vineyards, the rest is bottled unoaked and shared with family, friends ... and loyal followers! Ruby purple with fresh aromas of cherries, wild berries and a hint of liquorice. Oozing with smooth cherry and plum flavours. To be enjoyed with pizza, pasta and rich meat dishes.

Brezza Bianca
Brezza Bianca - £5.49
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Each year in northern Italy's Fruili region - regardless of how great the vintage is - only a fixed amount of wine can be labeled Grave del Friuli DOC. Never ones to let great things go to waste, we asked our favourite Pinot Grigio cellar to rescue their finest 'declassified' fruit and make you a truly mouthwatering white. And 2006 was a spectacular vintage in Italy - so this year's offering is better than ever! ''Fresh and mouthwatering with enticing aromas and crisp citrus flavours. Delicious with shrimps, salmon or - for the more adventurous - chicken with ginger''

Cavazzola
Cavazzola - £5.49
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Deliciously crisp and elegant cool-climate white from the same cellar as our priciest, top-flight Pinot Grigio. Do not be fooled by Cavazzola's humble Vino da Tavola status - it's made from 100% Grave del Friuli DOC grapes ... only 'declassified'! Winemaking rules only permit a certain of bottles to be granted DOC status each year - a problem for wineries in bumper years, but a real chance for a bargain for canny buyers. And here's a perfect example from our top Pinot Grigio cellar. Cavazzola has a tantalising, fragrant nose of orange blossom and pineapple, followed by mouthwateringly fresh crisp citrus flavours and a tingly mineral finish.

Poggio di Ettore
Poggio di Ettore - £5.49
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Passionate, small-estate winemaking doesn't come any better than this. Made by medal-winning, third-generation winemaker Ettore Galasso, on his picturesque Abruzzo estate, from a small parcel of old-vine Trebbiano. Trebbiano is the classic white of the Abruzzi region and Ettore has brought out all its refreshing characteristics that make it such a great match with creamy Italian pasta dishes. Pale gold with fresh aromas and white nectarine and citrus fruits. Lively and cleansing, but with real intensity.
