Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Michel who? Michel Rolland is one of Bordeaux's - indeed one of the world's - most famous wine consultants and his services are in huge demand. Love him or hate him, there is no questioning that the wines he is ultimately responsible for always make a big impression! His client list includes many of the greatest names in wine ... and this comparatively modest 10 hectare estate. Chateau Les Tours de Bayard is an award-winning property in Montagne-Saint-Emilion and is part of a family-owned stable of chateaux that include several Grands Crus. The wine, 70% Merlot with equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, is made by Pascal Hebrard and barrel aged in one third new oak. Decanter magazine called our Bordeaux list ''stunning ... includes vintages that are often hard to find elsewhere.'' Saint-Emilion 2005 is one such vintage ... stock up while you can!

S5 VDT
S5 VDT - £9.69
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
S5 is one of the most delicious black Syrahs you'll find anywhere - legend Andre Roux has been harvesting grapes since he was in short trousers, and hand selects only the best fruit to create S5. Expert, no-expense-spared winemaking culminates in luxurious ageing in oak barrels giving a smooth roundness to all that dark fruit power. Despite quality that rivals the fine Syrahs of the northern Rhone, wine laws in the south mean 100% Syrah can only be sold as humble Vin de Table, no matter how good. Smoky aromas of violets, black pepper and ripe brambles, joined by flavours of rich, spicy plum, blackcurrant fruits and a touch of cinnamon. Deep and velvety, enjoy with shepherd's pie, char-grilled steak or roast lamb.

Schroeder Estate Pinot Noir 2006
Schroeder Estate Pinot Noir 2006 - £9.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
When our buyers heard a whisper about an international medal-winning Argentinian estate beginning to make Pinot Noir in Patagonia, they just had to check it out. So they caught the first plane they could to Buenos Aires and then made the long trek down to the very south of the country ... where they found Pinot Noir wines to rival any New Zealand, and even Burgundy, offerings! The reason for such quality? Despite its reputation for an inhospitable climate, Patagonia boasts extremely long sunshine hours - perfect for ripening - and cold nights that lock in fresh, intense flavour. In these extreme conditions the Pinot Noir berries are bursting with hugely concentrated colour and flavour. And in the hands of top winemakers Roberto Schroeder and consultant Leonardo Puppato, the resulting wine is groundbreaking. ''Rich red with powerful aromas of raspberry, plum and light, spicy oak. Full and rounded in the mouth, with smooth, ripe tannin and fresh red fruit flavours. Wonderfully balanced, a great choice for game and rib of beef.''

If you love the berry-packed style of top-shelf Rhone - then here's a bargain not to be missed! Located right next-door to Chateauneuf-du-Pape - Vacqueyras has always been a closely guarded secret in the wine world. The area benefits from the same premium terroir as its illustrious neighbour, down to the famous ''pudding stones'' which litter the vineyards and help keep the vines warm at night. Entirely hand-harvested from ancient vines, this superb red is a fantastic value alternative to Chateauneuf-du-Pape! In fact, Robert Parker is a big fan of the area - ''Vacqueyras unbridled power and a fleshy personality make for a substantial and mouthfilling glass of wine''. Prices look set to soar in the next few years - closer to its more famous neighbour - so you'd better be quick! This ripe and fleshy red is all that you'd expect from the superb 2003 vintage. With a blend rich in Grenache, it's brimming with concentrated redcurrant, cherry and cranberry flavours. Excellent as a glass on its own or with hearty roast beef or lamb.

Andre Dupuis 'Le Merrandier' Pinot Noir 2005
Andre Dupuis 'Le Merrandier' Pinot Noir 2005 - £9.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
The name 'Merrandier' refers to the individual who selects the oak for the finest barrels whilst still 'on the tree'. Requiring a keen eye, the skill is highly prized and often passed from father to son (like truffle hunting). The resulting fine oak barrels add wonderful complexity to their wines. 2005 was a memorable year producing Burgundies with deep red fruit and the capacity to age well. Andre is famous for his devotion to quality - he lays straw in the vineyard to force his vines to work harder for water and concentrating the flavour of each grape. Rich with plum and raspberry flavours that linger. Superb served with wild mushroom omelette, pan fried pigeon breast or beef bourgignon.

Tempesto
Tempesto - £9.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Tempesto is a bold, spicy red ...the marriage of two premium grapes from Italy's two most exciting and beautiful wine islands, Sardinia and Sicily. Mario Murra is a dynamic young winemaker from Sardinia, where top bottles sell for #35 plus. On a trip to Sicily he met Mirella Lombardo, famous for her Pinot Noir, Pinot Nero del Vulcano, grown on the slopes of Mount Etna. During the 2006 wonder vintage, they created the first wine of the two islands, combining Mario's Cannonau (Chateauneuf's Grenache) with Mirella's rich, volcanic Pinot Nero. The result is a quality match to smart red Burgundy with a uniquely Italian character. Rich, spicy nose with hints of wild herbs. In the glass, it positively oozes black fruit thanks to the Med's abundant sunshine, but the unique treat is the subtle minerality from Mirella's volcanic Pinot Noir!
