Pure oak-aged Tempranillo crafted by the Castilla branch of Rioja's ''outstanding'' (The Observer) Bujanda family. Deep in colour, intense fruity and spicy aromas with hints of toasty oak. Soft and round on the palate, with supple, food-friendly tannins.

Domaine Liboreau Reserve Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
Domaine Liboreau Reserve Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 - £5.89
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
''The 2005 vintage will go down in the history books as a classic for Bordeaux'' (Wine Spectator). What you might not know is that Bordeaux's neighbours also enjoyed a spectacular year - and it's here that the greatest value can be found. Domaine Liboreau, in the picturesque Charentais regon, has long been sought out by claret-loving Members. This is their best release yet - a satin-smooth combination of plummy Merlot and regal Cabernet that benefits from an extra-ripe, dream harvest. Dark garnet colour, vivid cherry and chocolate aromas, and concentrated berry flavours that are only possible in truly great years. Soft, supple tannins - what a choice for the Sunday table.

Palacio del Conde Gran Reserva 2000
Palacio del Conde Gran Reserva 2000 - £5.89
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Carpeted in vines and thriving orange trees, this part of Spain is like heaven on earth. The Palacio Conde cellar has been established 90 years and the grape vines that made this wine are half a century old. This combination of mature vines and great winemaking traditions have helped produce a really majestic Gran Reserva. But there's one other important element ... Multi-medal wining winemaker, Jesus Garcia Alvarez is still only in his mid thirties yet has worked with such esteemed estates as Baron Phillippe Rothschild in Chile and at several others in top Spanish regions like Ribera del Duero. His expertise brings a modern touch to this otherwise deeply traditional region. To attain its Gran Reserva status, Palacio del Conde was aged 18 months in American oak barrels - a process that has added great complexity and maturity to the taste. Mellow raspberry and blackberry fruit with fine vanilla-spice notes. Decant and serve with roast lamb, beef or flame-grilled fillet steak.

Seleccion de Plata Oak Aged 2004
Seleccion de Plata Oak Aged 2004 - £5.89
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Seleccion de Plata is sourced from the Vino de la Tierra de Castilla region just south of Madrid. Made with 100% Tempranillo grapes, the wine has been aged in American oak for 12 months then matured for a further six at Martinez Bujanda cellars in Oyon. The Bujanda family bought Finca Antigua in 1998 just as the true potential of the La Mancha region was starting to shine through. The family's vineyards are in the higher parts of la mancha at 2400 feet above sea level. The variation between day and night temperature can be as much as 21 degrees which promotes more pronounced aromatics in the grapes. The wine has a mid ruby-garnet colour with a ripe fruits and soft oak on the nose. Full flavoured with balanced fruit and oak leading to a rich finish with good length and a touch of spice.

Champs des Princes 2005
Champs des Princes 2005 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
We're thrilled to offer you a genuine buying coup from the southern French town of Orange, home of the Rhone's most famously evocative red, Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Champs des Princes is a rich, spicy mouthfiller crafted by rising star Ralph Garcin, who learnt under Michel Chapoutier - one of the Rhone's (no, the world's) most famous, highly regarded winemakers. With the ''great concentration, purity and structure'' of the Rhone's must-buy 2005 vintage (Wine Spectator), this oak-aged gem is simply superb value. A perfect partner for the first roast lamb of Spring.

Loreto di Vestino 2004
Loreto di Vestino 2004 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Loreto di Vestino is a gorgeously authentic Italian red made by the great Ettore Galasso. His quality wines have delighted fans for years and you may recall how cock-a-hoop he was after the stunning 2004 Gold medal win in Tuscany. The black cherry Montepulciano grape is Ettore's speciality, a rich, warming grape of pure, lip-smacking drinkability. Which is why Signor Galasso and family enjoy a glass or two of 'Loreto' alongside their weekday meals. Unlike their flagship, barrel-aged 'Torre Galasso', Loreto di Vestina has not seen a splinter of oak. The grapes do however come from the same quality vineyards on the slopes around Vestina. This lighter some might say more traditional style of Montepuliciano, is all juicy, soft red fruit, with aromas of violets and liquorice - and loaded with black cherries and forest berries.

Grande Estude Grenache Merlot 2004
Grande Estude Grenache Merlot 2004 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Satin-smooth, with Gold-medal heritage this is a delicious soft Merlot and spicy Grenache blend made from old-vine fruit in the south of France. Thanks to the more relaxed rules of Vins de Pays status, dynamic winemakers are making an impressive range from fresher, fruitier and more 'new world' in style to classic taste of terroir local wines ... like this juicy gem from the Oc VdP (one of France's most innovative regions). Packed with bags of rich plum, damson, ripe berry fruit and spice. Excellent with your favourite roast or rich game dishes.

Casa Del Rio Verde Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
Casa Del Rio Verde Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
This succulent gem comes from one of the finest cellars in the country, situated in one of Chile's top wine-growing areas. It was created in 1993, and has won many awards in its short life, including six gold medals at the Challenge International du Vin at Blaye-Bourg and four trophies at the Citadelles du Vin in Bordeaux. Adolfo Hurtado is chief winemaker; he joined the company when he was 26 and has twice been awarded 'Winemaker of the Year' by the Chilean Food and Wine writers association. At 32 he was the youngest ever to be honoured! Aldolfo believes passionately in environmentally friendly methods in the vineyard, and much of the winery's vines are certified organic. Any live pests that do appear are removed courtesy of the cellar's flock of geese! Deep, dark and overflowing with rich cassis flavours, the sumptuous red is certainly one to savour.

Feudo Di Maria Syrah Nero d'Avola 2005
Feudo Di Maria Syrah Nero d'Avola 2005 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Nero d'Avola is a native of Sicily and when blended with Syrah it makes an especially exciting red wine with rich fruit, spice and round tannins. The Di Marias have a long history of winemaking but are definitely not bound by tradition! Since 2000 they have teamed up with fellow local experts the Biscardo family in order to produce very high quality Sicilian wines - experimenting on young vineyards, from bud to harvest to bottle. 2005 was a top vintage in Sicily and escaped the rain that hindered the harvest in many areas on the mainland. Conditions were warm but there was no excessive heat so grapes could ripen gradually.

Posada del Rey
Posada del Rey - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Posada del Rey is one of our greatest recent scoops - and it's all thanks to our excellent network of contacts in Rioja, a good 2005 vintage and ancient local regulations. Each year, estates can legally only release a set quantity of wine with 'Rioja' on the label. The surplus wine, although of an equally high quality, is sometimes bottled unoaked, without the regional name, and sold only to local restaurants ... and now us. This is Rioja 2005 in the bottle, just not on the label (hence the bargain price). It's made from Tempranillo by Riojan maestro Daniel Frias, a standard-bearer for the patient traditions of Rioja. The vines are near the village of Labastida, in Rioja Alavesa - the region's highest quality vineyard area. Deep ruby-purple colour with fruity aromas of redcurrant, plum and rich black cherry. Round and elegant with a silky smooth finish.

Maison Legrand Malbec 2005
Maison Legrand Malbec 2005 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Dark, dense, juicy, but beautifully smooth red, made in homage to the famous 'black wines' of Cahors (top releases fetch #15-#100!). This, from Cahors local Jean-Luc Bernard and Bordeaux-trained winemaker Didier Grandeau, is remarkable value!

La Boqueria de Barcelona Tempranillo 2005
La Boqueria de Barcelona Tempranillo 2005 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Rioja fans will adore this gorgeous, red berry Tempranillo from one of the oldest bodegas in Spain ... and one of the best vintages in Spain for years. Officially rated ''excellent'' in Rioja, 2005 was a particularly good year for grape varieties that traditionally make it into Rioja, like Tempranillo. Full of soft strawberry and raspberry fruit flavours with warming layers of vanilla oak, this Tempranillo is especially delicious when partnered with roast lamb.

Vega Oliveras 2005
Vega Oliveras 2005 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Luxuriously smooth, oak-aged Tempranillo that in three short years has become a customer 'must-have' ... and clearly, it's the incredible richness of flavour and outstanding value that have you coming back for more. Our old friend, award-winning Ramon Roqueta oversaw every detail of this wine, using modern techniques (at an historic 800-year-old winery) to get 100% of those classic, sun-ripened flavours. As he explains: ''When I went to look at the vines in the midday heat, I found fruit so black and heavy ... ready to fall off the vine ... when we picked, the fruit was warm to the touch.'' And deliciously ripe fruit means mouthfilling velvety richness.

Serrasane 2005
Serrasane 2005 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
The search for great value reds took the buying team to the tiny southern French hilltop village of Argelliers, home to juicy, moreish Serrasane. This is the kind of wine that has earned the Languedoc its reputation as 'one of the undiscovered bastions of delicious, value-packed wines'(Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate). Made by Michel Maury, renowned for reds of great depth and character, this has a lovely purple colour, aromas of cherries and raspberries and - like the best wines in neighbouring Minervois - supple tannins and peppery black fruit flavours.

Troubadour
Troubadour - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
For a taste of rural France at its traditional, lip-smacking best, you'd be hard pushed to do beat this deep, ruby red. It comes from the village cellars of Besse, deep in Provence, courtesy of a tip-off that lives up to its label ... Troubador is named in tribute to the wandering minstrels and poets Besse was famed for - and we found it through a trail that led from hallowed Chateau Haut-Brion to the Cape and finally deep into Provence! Crafted from traditional southern French grape varieties, planted long before French wine laws determined what could come from where, Troubador is a fine country red, brimming with dark fruit. Spiced cherries, blackcurrants - a delicious find, with good structure ... so terrific with hearty food!

Don Cayetano Carmenere 2006
Don Cayetano Carmenere 2006 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Brought to Chile in the 19th century, Carmenere was mistaken for Merlot until the 1990's due to its rarity. Nearly extinct is its native Bordeaux, it narrowly avoided being lost forever. Fortunately the abundance of sunshine in Colchagua brings out the best in this soft, dark grape, especially in these expert hands. Renowned for its quality, Luis Felipe Edwards' estate is set in a small valley in Colchagua. Abudent sunshine tempered by cool, refreshing nights make the climate here perfect for their old vines. The cooler, longer 2006 growing season - due to the influence of La Ni?a, the counteract to El Ni?o - has given us wines of great aromatic intensity and richness. Seasoned with Petit Verdot, another Bordeaux native, giving a dose of spice and tannin, this wine has deep ruby colour. Velvety, full of ripe red berry fruits creamy toffee notes with a hint of spice. Enjoy with garlic-roasted lamb, spicy empanadas (a Chilean version of pasties!) or simply it on its own!

Vi?a Tarapaca Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Vi?a Tarapaca Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Vi?a Tarapaca is a beacon of quality, offering a constantly reliable source of premium wines. This cassis and bramble fruited Cabernet from the fantastic 2006 vintage offers great value for money. Vi?a Tarapaca Merlot 2006
Vi?a Tarapaca Merlot 2006 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Located in the Maipo valley, Vi?a Tarapaca is undoubtedly one of the most stunning and exciting wineries in Chile. The magnificent estate is blessed with a beautiful old colonial house nestled in the middle of a horseshoe-shaped vineyard. Highly experienced, Bordeaux-trained winemaker Sergio Correas has earned a reputation for excellence - crafting elegant, smooth wines from Merlot that demonstrate the heights which Chilean wines can reach. Deeply coloured with ripe blackberry and spice aromas and a hint of black pepper. The rich fruit flavours and soft, round tannins make for an easy-drinking wine great on its own, or with pasta and superb company.

Arriero Bonarda 2006
Arriero Bonarda 2006 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
The Mendoza province is the grape-growing area in Argentina, and Arriero is the area's second largest winery. It has invested heavily to produce good value, high quality New World wines - like this seriously rich, dark Bonarda. The high altitude vineyards enjoy cold winters and hot summers. Rainfall is low but abundant snowmelt from the mountains allows irrigation when required. All this contributes to perfect growing conditions and the grapes achieve optimum ripeness. Full of rich, black cherry and chocolate, with a hint of spice on the finish. A great match for meaty pasta dishes.

Vi?a Arroyo Bonarda 2006
Vi?a Arroyo Bonarda 2006 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
This award-winning Bonarda, crafted by the estate that brought us our first Argentine release, is packed with sumptuous bramble-fruit flavour. Tipped to be the next top red wine sensation, Bondara is a dark, spicy original from Argentina. In the Andean foothills of the Mendoza region, high altitude and warm, sunny days allow these richly-coloured grapes to ripen fully. Dark garnet with aromas of jammy fruit, cherries and smoky spice. Firmly structured with ripe blackberry fruit flavours with a hint of coffee. Perfect with barbequed steak or garlic-infused lamb with tomatoes and basil.
