Condes Carpallo 2006
Condes Carpallo 2006 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Otilia Romero and her husband Vicente Sanchez Migalion are deeply committed to showing the world 'The Real La Mancha' through their wonderfully expressive wines. And this is one of the freshest, zestiest Spanish whites we've tried in a long while. Otilia's family have been vine growers for four generations. Vicente is a highly accomplished winemaker and President of the Spanish Association of Oenologues. This wine comes from a small parcel of 70 year-old Airen, Sauvignon Blanc, Macabeo and Viognier grown at 900 metres above sea level resulting in a wine of intensity and finesse. Aromas of white nectarines and lemon zest. Mouthwatering freshness and impressive concentration of flavour. Serve chilled with seafood and white meat tapas or a seafood paella.

Troubadour
Troubadour - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Crafted from traditional southern French grape varieties, planted long before French wine laws determined what could come from where, Troubador is a fine country red, brimming with dark fruit. It was a tip-off that led us to the village cellars of Besse, deep in Provence, and we have delighted in returning there every vintage since. For a taste of rural France, you'd be hard pushed to beat this deep, ruby red. ''Richly layered with herb, blackberry and spiced cherry flavours. This delicious find is terrific with hearty food!''

Vega Oliveras 2006
Vega Oliveras 2006 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Over the last 5 years this soft, rich Tempranillo has become a customer 'must-have' - with the incredible richness of flavour and such outstanding value, it's easy to see why. Our old friend award-winning Ramon Roqueta oversaw every detail of this wine, using modern techniques (at an historic 800-year-old winery) to get 100% of those classic, sun-ripened flavours. As he explains: ''When I went to look at the vines in the midday heat, I found fruit so black and heavy - ready to fall off the vine ... when we picked, the fruit was warm to the touch.'' Such deliciously ripe fruit gives the mouthfilling velvety richness that's made this such a favourite.

Marquise

Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Praised by President Hugh Johnson as having ''more dimensions than the usual Sauvignon'', this is an absolute must-have for lovers of crisp whites. With immense enthusiasm, Noel Bougrier searches the Loire - source of some of the world's most refreshing wines - to secure parcels of extremely fresh, premium grapes. The result: ''Fruity, harmonious white with pure aromas of freshly sliced apple, followed by invigorating, juicy pear flavours. Ideal as an aperitif or served with fish pie.''

La Croix des Cabustines Chardonnay 2006
La Croix des Cabustines Chardonnay 2006 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Cooler, ocean-influenced vineyards in the Languedoc created a wine with great ripeness of fruit, yet still maintaining a refreshing mineral complexity. Parker-praised winemaker - and local boy - Herve Sabadeil used all his knowledge of the area to carefully selected premium grapes from the best vineyards. ''Full, ripe citrus flavours wrapped in creamy vanilla oak plus a winning hint of spice.''

La Croix de Cabaret 2005
La Croix de Cabaret 2005 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Southern French rarities like this are something of a house speciality. We've been scouring the Languedoc in earnest since the 1970s - long before it became fashionable. The important things to know about this wine are that it comes from the beautiful, rugged vineyards of the Minervois, it's oak-aged and delicious and is made from a very rare grape called Caladoc. Caladoc is a cross between Malbec (or Cot as it's known locally) and Grenache. As it is not an officially recognised variety, it cannot be included in the Minervois AOC wines. Hence La Croix de Cabaret is a vin de pays - and exceptionally good value! The winemakers are Thierry Tesseyre and Jean-Claude Founeau, both of whom have wide winemaking experience abroad. Reflecting the perfect 2005 vintage conditions, La Croix is made in a modern style to accentuate the fruit. Brimming with the scents of dark red berries, fresh pepper and wild herbs. Smooth, succulent and intense.

Torero Tempranillo 2005
Torero Tempranillo 2005 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Tempranillo appears under various pseudonyms throughout Spain. It is not only the country's 'workhorse' grape it also fashions its finest wines from Rioja to Ribero del Durero. In the exciting, go-ahead region of Navarra (much-loved by Hemmingway) you find many cutting-edge estates and an atmosphere of innovation thanks to Spain's most influential wine research centre. Torero sums up all that is so positive about Tempranillo and the Navarra region. It's a regular medal-winner at London's International Wine Challange which just serves to show what a modern, international style of wine this is. Classic damson and raspberry aromas with underlying vanilla oak. Smooth and fruit-driven with a lovely ripe-fruit persistence. Serve as the locals might with rabbit casserole or breast of wood pigeon. Alternatively, its a great partner for spaghetti bolognese, bangers and mash or a shepherds pie.

Rocca Colmontano 2006
Rocca Colmontano 2006 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
From the hills in the heart of the Marche Region, famous for its Verdicchio, Rocca Colmontano is made by the multi award-winning Moncaro cellar. Traditional and modern farming techniques coexist, reducing the impact on the land through the use of biological methods. The winemaker is the dynamic Giulano d'Ignazzi who has worked in Chile and injects his whites with an almost New World-like freshness whilst still retaining Italian character. Working with both New and Old World flying winemakers Moncaro has become one of the most important cellars in the region - and with two wineries: one exclusively for red wine production, the other specialising in white.

Les Combes Hautes 2006
Les Combes Hautes 2006 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Here's an unmissable offer for fans of the Minervois' flavour-packed reds. Les Combes Hautes is a new, oak-aged treat from winemaking friends in the south. And what a bargain! It comes from a top region - Minervois is a source of top-quality reds, offering ''high quality, good value, fruit driven wines ... out-terroirs (sic) the New World'' (Decanter) - and it's made from premium, hand-picked fruit from ancient, 80-year-old wines ... superb concentration! Ensuring this quality is gifted winemaker Mathieu Carrara, who learned his craft in the hallowed cellars of Burgundy. He oversees the winemaking and treats his wine to 8 months in fine French oak, giving a delicious scent of cloves and vanilla. Deeply coloured, with spicy aromas of forest fruit with hints of wild thyme and rosemary. Bold mouthfuls of hearty blackcurrant with Syrah spice and notes of vanilla. One to buy by the dozen - with confidence!

Castell de Veza 2007
Castell de Veza 2007 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Outstanding quality and superb value in whites simply doesn't get any better than this deliciously zesty, fruit-packed Spanish star. It's crafted at the multi medal-winning La Baronia de Turis cellar who are renowned for the quality of their Malvasia and Moscatel grapes - so much so that in 1626 the town was ordered to pay a special tax to King Felipe IV of Spain due to the superior quality of their wines! Now young, up-and-coming winemaker Juan Pico Lozano brings these two classic varieties together beautifully to create a refreshing, zippy white ''Pale golden glassful with lovely fresh rose petal aromas and deliciously crisp flavours of apricot and zesty orange. Perfect with fragrant Thai dishes.''

The Holdings Bonarda Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
The Holdings Bonarda Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Introducing an exciting new red brimming with juicy bramble fruit from the high vineyards of Argentina's picturesque, mountain-ringed Famatina Valley. Blackcurranty Cabernet is added to seductive Bonarda ''Argentina's unacknowledged star ... silky, ripe fruit'' (The Guardian) Italian in origin, as is the quality-obsessed close-knit community of growers here. Vines were brought to the valley last century and the full-flavoured grapes are still handpicked from small, high vineyard plots, where hot days, cool nights and low rainfall enhance the grapes' colour and aroma. Silky plum, raspberry and cherry harmoniously balanced by a hint of oak - a delight on its own or with meaty, cheesy pasta. A lovely wine to share with friends - don't miss it!

Tor di Monte Grechetto 2007
Tor di Monte Grechetto 2007 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
One of Italy's great originals, cultivated since Roman times, Grechetto is a key component of the best known Umbrian white, Orvieto, and displays a wonderfully concentrated, refreshing elegance. Our specialist Italian Buyer was greatly impressed by this particular wine from the 11th century Tordimonte estate because it offers the same full-flavoured, fresh and nutty character of Orvieto minus the hefty price this famous name carries. Light golden colour, with subtle toasted almond, zesty lemon and floral aromas. Fresh, dry and ripe, it's perfectly suited to local specialities such as Prosciutto di Norcia (a quality cured ham) or freshwater fish and garden-fresh salads.

Domaine de Targuerie 2006
Domaine de Targuerie 2006 - £5.99

Wine has been produced in Gascony since the fifth century. Even then, viticulturists could recognise the superior terroir of the region - abundant sunshine and cool temperate evenings produce premium ripe and juicy fruit bursting with freshness! This area is world famous for its Armagnac, but Gascony is rapidly developing a reputation for producing exquisite white wines that are comparable in quality to those of the Loire Valley! This elegant white is bursting with fresh-fruit appeal. Packed with juicy melon, apple and citrus-fresh flavours, it's no surprise that it was recently given a top recommendation at London's prestigious International Wine Challenge. Try with grilled fish or as a lively aperitif.

Tipped to be the next top red wine sensation, Bondara is a dark, spicy original from Argentina. Bright ruby in colour with aromas of jammy fruit, cherries and smoky spice. Firmly structured with ripe blackberry fruit flavours with a hint of coffee.
