Terrasses de Saint Georges 2003
Terrasses de Saint Georges 2003 - £6.15
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Delighfully creamy with just a hint of spice on the finish, Terrasses de St Georges takes its name from the terraced vineyards typically of the hilly terrain found in the Cotes Catalanes, and the patron saint of French Catalunya, Saint Georges. Consultant winemaker Herve Saberdeil has lived all his live in this region of France and relishes the fact that he can make top quality wines from local grape varieties. To make this clean, fresh-tasting white, he uses grapes from ancient Maccabeu vines. Aged up to 90 years old, these gnarled vines give VERY low yields, resulting in a beautifully concentrated, richly flavoured wine. Herve then adds a dash of much-loved Sauvignon Blanc to give extra zest and zing ... we think you'll love it! ''Freshly-cut green apple aromas are complemented by peaches and cream flavours with a touch of subtle spice. Full and fresh, seafood is its obvious partner, but it also makes a superb aperitif.''

Domaine des Oliviers Chardonnay 2003
Domaine des Oliviers Chardonnay 2003 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Gold medal-winning opulence like this only comes with very skillful winemaking - and a stonkingly hot vintage! Sourcing the best grapes from 2003's tiny yields down in one of the hottest parts of the Midi, the winemakers (big local characters) have used New World techniques to create a uniquely clean but ripe, concentrated Chardonnay. Fresh and dry but with all the great peach, butter and toasty flavours classic to the grape this fills the mouth and leaves it wanting more. Enjoy now, straight from the fridge or let it round off even further over the next couple of years. Vins de Pays are made throughout France but the ones making news are those from the south - where something of a wine making revolution has taken place ... attracting interest and investment from big names like Hardy's and Penfold's.

This ripe, nutty and refreshing Semillon is made at the Clos Delem vineyard in Bergerac to the sunnier south of its famous neighbour, Bordeaux. Normally French winemakers blend this noble grape with Sauvignon but here it is 100% Semillon - given a delicious twist by a talented Australian winemaker, combining fresh, zingy citrussy, New World fruit with classically elegant, Bordeaux-style minerality. Delicious on its own with fresh seafood - and especially wild salmon.

Crisp and tangy on the finish, with a trace of tropical guava, it makes a wonderful partner to barbecued fish or cold roast chicken.

Vi?a Arroyo Chenin Riesling 2006
Vi?a Arroyo Chenin Riesling 2006 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Brought to you from an estate whose vineyards are set in the majestic foothills of the Argentine Andes, in the country's premium Mendoza region. The high altitude and warm, sunny days and cool, clear nights found here allow the grapes to ripen fully whilst still retaining plenty of acidity. Australian winemaker, Peter Bright, selects only the highest quality Chenin and Riesling grapes from these mountain vineyards to create this deliciously different aperitif. Bursting with orange and lime aromas, finishing with a refreshing lemon crispness. Great on its own or will make a lovely match to seafood.

Palazzo Simoncelli 2006
Palazzo Simoncelli 2006 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Pinot Grigio fans will adore the clean, crisp flavours of this authentic Orvieto ... and it passes the ultimate test of a good Italian white - it's superb with food. Winemaker Maurillio Chioccia is a master of food-friendly whites - so much so that sommeliers in restaurants all over Italy organised a day of celebration in his honour. 2006 was a ''breathtakingly good'' Italian vintage, giving Palazzo more flavour than ever. Halfway between Rome and Florence, the medieval, hill-top town of Orvieto is ''making a name for itself with top class whites'' (Decanter). This Orvieto Classico (from some of the town's finest vineyards) takes its name from the local 12th Century palazzo, owed by the Simoncellis until 200 years ago. Lemon in hue with fresh aromas, white fruit flavours - pears, apples, melons - and crisp minerally notes (a classic sign of top-notch Italian whites). Superb with creamy pasta or fresh salads.

Ramon Roqueta Tempranillo 2005
Ramon Roqueta Tempranillo 2005 - £6.19

Indeed the Roqueta name features on the star-studded list of Spain's El Bulli - widely held to be one of the world's finest restaurant. Rich aromas and flavours of redcurrant and bramble. Mouthfilling texture and great concentration. Look too for notes of vanilla pods, spicy cloves and supple tannins. Perfect for meaty tapas dishes, mature cheeses and charcuterie.

Rusty Goat Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Rusty Goat Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
If you've ever been to the Australian outback, you'll know about that famous red soil (if not, think Ayers Rock and you'll be on the right track). And if you've driven around the tiny county of Warburn you may have seen the odd sight of hundreds of rusty-looking goats - their coats tinted by the red dust. Antonio Sergi, Warburn Estate's lead man, is also owner of the goats ... hence his affection for the name! The rich, red soil does have more important uses too - helping deliver outstanding Merlot and Cabernet grapes. Wine lovers the world over know of South Australia's legendary 'terra rosa' soil that produces such superb wines in the Coonawarra. In New South Wales, near Warburn Estate, the soil is very similar giving the vines the great drainage they need. Left on the vine longer to achieve maximum ripeness, this soft, silky wine is filled with aromas of red fruits, plums with a hint of oak. Lovely fruity flavours of redcurrant and plum with a touch of spice. Perfect for barbeque or Italian food.

Porton Viejo Sauvignon Blanc 2006
Porton Viejo Sauvignon Blanc 2006 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
''Chile's wines are getting better all the time'' (The Sunday Times) and this whistle-clean Sauvignon is no exception. 2006 was an outstanding vintage for aromatic whites - some say the 'best ever'. Crisp, fresh and intensely fruity, Porton Viejo combines the innovation and dynamism of the New World with the skill of the old - thanks to experienced French winemaker Frederic Novella. Sparkling bright with classic aromas of gooseberry, fresh green grass and a delicate hint of blossom. Bursting with tropical fruit and citrus flavours, savour chilled and solo, or enjoy with salads and fresh fish.
