Prickly Pear 2007
Prickly Pear 2007 - £5.79
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
In Argentina's Famatina Valley, pristine vines bask in brilliant sunshine, enjoying pure mountain air in the world's highest vineyards ... alongside the prickly pear cactus! Argentina is THE place to go for ''wines of real sophistication and value'' (The FT), as Prickly Pear deliciously demonstrates. Fresh tropical fruit aromas with lovely hints of orange blossom. Zesty pineapple & crisp apple flavours with zingy citrus notes. A terrific aperitif - you and your guests will love this.

Reina de la Vendimia Chenin 2007
Reina de la Vendimia Chenin 2007 - £5.79
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Freshly sliced apple and citrus-flavoured Chenin Blanc made by Rodolfo Sadler - one of Argentina's top winemakers. The wine itself is named in honour of the annual Vendimia, or harvest festival, when thousands of dancers group together to celebrate the grape harvest in an open air theatre in Mendoza - Argentinia's 'city of wine'. At the end of the night, into the small hours, the voting takes place for the year's Harvest Queen - ''La Reina de la Vendimia''. Our buyer Thomas, who was there this year, says ''it's probably the biggest vintage festival in the world!'' Grown in high altitude vineyards, the grapes are seriously concentrated - the warm days and cool nights in the Andes help retain the crisp fruit flavours. Pale yellow in the glass, with light apple and citrus aromas, Delicate and just off dry, but with a wonderfully refreshing, crisp finish. A fantastic match for white fish or seafood dishes. One to impress your guests with!

Palacio Robledo Sauvignon Blanc Verdejo 2007
Palacio Robledo Sauvignon Blanc Verdejo 2007 - £5.79
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
If you enjoy crisp, dry whites ... you're going to love this! Fresh from the sunny plains of Spain's La Mancha region - this deliciously vibrant classic is made from a blend of citrus-packed Sauvignon and aromatic local grape Verdejo. The grapes were hand-harvested at night from high-altitude vineyards - to ensure absolute freshness! The stunning 2007 vintage brought tiny quantities of intensely fragrant fruit - perfect for producing Palacio Robledo's signature zesty style. From the initial burst of grassy passion fruit, ripe gooseberry and exotic lychee aromas, to mouthfuls of tingly, concentrated citrus, Palacio Robledo is a truly exciting white. Enjoy with grilled white fish or light Summer salads.

Il Papavero
Il Papavero - £5.79
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
This fabulous wine, loved by all, is made from the juiciest red grapes cherry-picked in the 'heel' of Italy. Show judges and writers are all smitten and just can't get enough of it! Papavero's remarkable popularity is down to two simple things: hugely seductive, soft black-cherry flavours and fantastic value for money. As one wine writer famously stated ''if all table wine were this good, no-one would ever leave the table!'' Smooth, velvety black fruit flavours, with an enticing hint of spice from the dash of Sicily's Nero d'Avola grape. Delightful with pasta and cheeses ... or simply enjoyed on its own!

Villa Fiori Bianco
Villa Fiori Bianco - £5.79
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Made from a mouthwatering combination of Sicilian Greganico and rounded Chardonnay from Italy's Abruzzan coast - this whistle-clean white is one of the best-value wines in our cellars! Young winemaker Scipione Giuliani was keen to make a blend he liked (subject to our approval!) and not be constrained by appellation laws, hence the humble Vino di Tavola status. Excellent with fish in lemony sauces (or just to perk up the cold turkey platter), Villa Fiori's pale lemon colour exudes a simple slightly grassy nose and has a fresh, clean palate, hinting of ripe, floral peach. Very good as a lunchtime aperitif too.

Villa Mare Bianco
Villa Mare Bianco - £5.79
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
This gorgeous, green apple-fresh Italian is the ideal sunny afternoon quaffer. Made from a mouthwatering blend of local speciality grapes plus a dash of melony Chardonnay - it's great value for money! That's because the grapes are sourced from top vineyards in both Sicily and Italy's high Abruzzi hills - hence the humble Vino da Tavola tag. One sip and you'll agree it should cost much more. Crafted by talented young winemaker Scipione Giuliani ... the man behind your No.1 most reordered red, Il Papavero! Bright yellow in colour. Simple peachy and slightly grassy nose with a fresh, clean palate, hints of ripe peach and slight floral tones. Supremely quaffable at a great price.

Highstone Torrontes Sauvignon 2007
Highstone Torrontes Sauvignon 2007 - £5.79
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Made from a unique combination of citrus-charged Torrontes and racy Sauvignon - this mountain-fresh white is bursting with fruit-filled personality! The grapes used for this white are grown on high, sloping vineyards just north of Mendoza. The high-altitude location ripens grapes to perfection and supplies a cool mountain-fresh breeze that's essential for sealing in maximum flavour! Crammed with tangy, citrus flavours - this gorgeously ripe white offers plenty of distinct minerally-fresh hints. Dry and crisp, it's wonderful served slightly chilled with summer salads or grilled fish.

Reserve de la Traverse 2006
Reserve de la Traverse 2006 - £5.79
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Chief winemaker behind this gem is Michel Marty, who was recently named 'Best Winemaker in the World' - and has also won a coveted Coup de Coeur in the Guide Hachette. And the accolades don't stop there! Reserve de la Traverse was recently given the thumbs up by London's prestigious International Wine Challenge - quite the achievement when you consider the fierce competition it faced. Reserve de la Traverse is named after the ancient trade route which carves its way through the vineyard's Carignan and Grenache vines. During the Middle Ages, it became a key passageway extending trade routes and war paths across the border of France and Spain. Entirely hand-harvested to ensure that only the ripest grapes are chosen for the wine - this inky smooth red has bags of personality! Brimming with intense brambly and blueberry flavours - this is the perfect red to accompany barbequed meats.

Cavazzola
Cavazzola - £5.79
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Crisp and elegant cool-climate white from the same cellar as our priciest, top-flight Pinot Grigio. Do not be fooled by Cavazzola's humble Vino da Tavola status - it's made from 100% Grave del Friuli DOC grapes ... only 'declassified'! Outdated winemaking rules only permit a certain number of bottles to be granted DOC status each year - a problem for wineries in bumper years ... but a real chance for a bargain for canny buyers. Opulent, fragrant nose of orange, lemon and pineapple, followed by mouthwateringly fresh crisp citrus flavours and a tingly mineral finish.

Il Papavero Bianco
Il Papavero Bianco - £5.79
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
With its gorgeous, peach aromas and fresh mouthfuls of lemon and citrus, Il Papavero Bianco is a lively aperitif ... the perfect pick-me-up. As many of you have already discovered, Papavero offer unbeatable value for money thanks to the innovative talent of winemaker Scipione Giuliani. He dares to flout strict wine laws by cherry-picking the best fruit from two regions, hence the VdT status and the great price! Appealing peachy and freshly-cut grass aromas with delicate, rich peach and blossom flavours. Fresh and easy drinking. Ideal with fish, picnics or simply on its own.

Ladera de la Vega Garnacha 2005
Ladera de la Vega Garnacha 2005 - £5.79
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
In recent years La Mancha has attracted top wineries from Rioja and beyond, all anxious to get their hands on the region's precious Garnacha vines. Luckily our unique friendship with the Mu?oz family, who've made wine here since 1940, assures access to some of the very oldest and best-sited vineyards. Ladera de la Vega has the depth of colour and flavour you only get from seriously old vines ... timeworn, gnarled and tree-trunk thick - each one yielding up precious drops of lip-stainingly dark liquid. No oak required, you've just the smooth power of sun-drenched, old-vine fruit - juicy, succulent and very velvety ... an absolute pleasure from first sip to last. Until recently, it has been mellowing peacefully in bottle in the family's cellars, deep beneath the scorched earth of Spain's hottest region. The depth of sweet, juicy raspberry, tobacco-edged fruit is sure to delight - but you'll have to be quick to secure your share!
