The previous vintage won Decanter's Wine of the Year and this one's a 2005! Concentrated old-vine fruit is fermented and aged in oak at the multi award-winning Chateau Leboscq. Classified as a Cru Bourgeois in 1932, the property was bought by Claude Lapalu in 1972. The estate featuring a beautiful 19th century building is in St Christoly Medoc, with vines overlooking the Gironde estuary. Winemaker Jean-Michel Lapalu, Claude's son, produced the stunning 2005 which he aged in top quality Merrain oak barrels - known for lending depth and structure to fine claret without overpowering the fruit. Bright ruby colour, with enticing ripe fruit aromas and a subtle hints of clove and vanilla. Good depth of flavour and lovely weight in the mouth. Ripe, rounded, full of crushed berries and minerals, full-body & fine tannins. This complex and expressive claret is gorgeous with Sunday roasts, rare fillet steaks or even wild mushroom risotto.

''One great advantage of 2005 is the quality and value of Bourgogne Rouge - gorgeous, with intense, silky palates'' (The Times) As Alain says, you do very little with fruit this good - just let the Pinot Noir flavours sing ... amplified in such a top year and rounded out by fine oak ageing. Winemaker Didier Rageot was delighted when his flagship red snapped up top GOLD at France's prestigious Concours General Agricole. Teeming with red and black berry fruit and a layer of mocha flavours. A lovely intense wine drinking beautifully now!

Bodegas Primicia Reserva
Bodegas Primicia Reserva - £10.39
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Double medal, barrel-aged Reserva courtesy of highly acclaimed Bodega Primicia. 100% Tempranillo delivers mouthfilling strawberry fruit - framed with creamy oak. The Bodega is named after the first taxes paid to the church at each harvest. It was always paid in fruit - and berry fruit flavours is something this wine has by the bucketful. Hand harvested from high altitude vineyards, the grapes then spend three months in cask. So - unique, bemedalled and from the heart of Rioja. Definitely one for the dining table. The supple, oaky tannins make this a fine partner for rare roast beef or ripe cheeses but it is also soft enough to enjoy on its own.

His family has made juicy, Merlot-rich wines at this estate since 1900, just a stone's throw from the legendary estates of Saint-Julien, from vines planted long ago on the same top quality, gravel soils. Elegant black fruit with hints of chocolate and coffee, velvety tannins and good ageing potential. Secure yourself a case ... and look forward to nearly a decade of classically styled claret.

Domaine du Prieure Saint Romain 2005
Domaine du Prieure Saint Romain 2005 - £10.49
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Here's a rare chance to secure your share of Beaujolais' remarkable 2005 vintage. Moulin a Vent is known as the 'King of Beaujolais' as the appellation produces the region's boldest, most age-worthy reds, and Domaine du Prieure Saint-Romain is one of the very best on our books. It's a small, family-owned estate planted with 50-year-old vines. Vines of this age produce very small yields, but quantity is of no importance ... it's quality that counts and smaller yields mean greater concentration. To gain even more fruit flavour, the estate use the ''saignees'' method of extraction ... famed in the area for producing wines of astonishing depth of flavour. Aromas of ripe black fruits lead to satisfying mouthfuls of ripe cassis and red fruit, all underpinned by delightful hints of violet and liquorice.

Casas del Bosque Syrah Reserve 2005
Casas del Bosque Syrah Reserve 2005 - £10.89
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
In a very short space of time the Casas del Bosque winery has earned a reputation for excellence, winning many awards including the Trophy for Best Wine of The Show at the annual Wines of Chile Awards 2007. The estate was founded in 1993 by Juan Cuneo Solari, the son of an Italian immigrant who had always dreamt of owning a winery. He chose Casablanca, which has since become the country's leading cool climate wine region. Like California's Napa Valley, morning coastal fogs cap daytime temperatures and lead to highly aromatic wines. This oak-aged Syrah scooped Silver at the Syrah du Monde competition. Deep, satin-smooth red with fragrant bramble and cracked pepper aromas. Vibrant and balanced with rich red fruit flavours, a hint of mocha and toasty oak. Serve with grilled lamb, spicy lentil casserole or a Moroccan cous-cous.

Vigna San Floriano Ripasso 2005
Vigna San Floriano Ripasso 2005 - £10.89
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
At its best, Valpolicella is an absolutely delicious wine. And like Chianti, it comes in several quality levels. The greatest Valpolicella is the pricey Amarone. Ripasso however, has much of Amarone's richness but at a far more affordable price. San Floriano comes from the west of Verona and is made from the local 'Holy Trinity' of grapes - Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. For the estate's intensely rich Amarone, winemaker Paolo Confente air dries these grapes to a phenomenal level of concentration so they produce only the smallest amount of liquid. The powerfully flavoured lees are then used to 'season' its lighter sibling Valpolicella, giving it more complex Ripasso flavours. For extra depth the wine is barrel aged for 12 months. Intense ruby colour and a delicate nose of almond, spice and dried fruits. A rich mouthful of flavours - plums, black cherry and damsons - rounded out by gentle oak and velvety tannins. Richly concentrated and at its very best right now.

Villa Cerna 2005
Villa Cerna 2005 - £10.89
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Set in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, Villa Cerna has been producing wine for almost 1000 years! A document recovered from 1183 refers to the estate's suitability for grape growing - and Villa Cerna has never looked back! Even today, this cherry-red Chianti is made in a fully traditional style - current owners, the Cecchi brothers use ONLY indigenous grapes in their blend ... you won't find any Cabernet Sauvignon in this winery! The wine is then aged in traditional oak barriques in the property's ancient cellars - to offer an authentic taste of Italy! Bright and vibrant with intense cherry, violet and spicy wood aromas.
