Andre Neveu Le Grand Fricambault 2006
Andre Neveu Le Grand Fricambault 2006 - £12.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Andre Neveu has crafted his Sancerre for over five decades. His estate seamlessly integrates traditional methods and the best modern equipment to bring out the very essence of the terroir, creating a rich, elegant wine which is praised by experts ... and jealously guarded by in-the-know Sancerre fans The ancient vines of the tiny, perfectly sited Le Grand Fricambault vineyard give the finest wines of one of Sancerre's greatest Crus, Chavignol. Pale straw in colour, this wine is attractive and complex with a flinty, mineral tang and exotic richness. Great with starters like asparagus and sweet peas quiche, green salads and fishes.

Clos des Rocs Monopole 2003
Clos des Rocs Monopole 2003 - £12.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Top-notch white Burgundy is ''the classic dry white for entertaining'' (Jancis Robinson MW) and Clos des Rocs comes with our highest recommendation from a unique plot of family-owned vines - a mature, Gold-medal treat for special occasions. Pouilly Loche is a tiny 28 hectares on some of the best terroir of the Maconnais. Within that, the Clos des Rocs is a walled vineyard close to the landmark Roche du Solutre and wholly-owned by the Bricage family. The 65 year-old Chardonnay vines produce top quality grapes, deftly crafted into this excellent wine by the multi medal-winning, 28 year-old young gun guru winemaker Olivier Giroux. Having spent 12 months in oak barrels, this dense, fruit-rich wine has taken on a vanilla oak-infused complexity that makes it such a mouth-filling delight. Serve with poussin, blanquette de veau, grilled swordfish or creamy pasta dishes.

Shaw & Smith Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Shaw & Smith Sauvignon Blanc 2007 - £12.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Shaw & Smith began over a long lunch in 1989 when cousins Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith decided to realize a long held dream to make wine together. Both were already familiar faces in the wine industry (Martin Shaw was Australia's first Master of Wine!) and knew exactly how they wanted to produce their magnificent wine. It's no surprise then that Shaw and Smith chose the cool climate Adelaide Hills to make their superb, whistle-clean Sauvignon Blanc. Renowned Aussie wine expert James Halliday called this region ''the best in the country for Sauvignon Blanc'' and awarded Shaw and Smith an impressive 95 points for their terrific white. Bright and intense with plenty of ripe, zesty fruit flavours. Serve nicely chilled alongside scallops or a crisp summer salad.

Maison Chanson 2006
Maison Chanson 2006 - £12.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
''For good white Burgundy that won't break the bank'' (Wine International) head to the Vire-Clesse region ... a new appellation created in 1998 from two of the best Maconnais Villages. Ripe citrus and pineapple with a deliciously crisp finish. Gorgeous aperitif and a steal at this price.

Cape Mentelle Semillon Sauvignon 2007
Cape Mentelle Semillon Sauvignon 2007 - £12.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Based in Margaret River - ''producer of some of Australia's finest wines'' (The Times) - Cape Mentelle is Cloudy Bay's Aussie project. This citrus-charged white is their take on the classic Semillon/Sauvignon Bordeaux blend - and proves to be just as good as it's famous sibling. Light and refreshing with bags of citrus-charged character, it's no wonder Aussie wine-guru James Halliday called this ''Consistently one of the outstanding examples of its style''. Devastatingly good both on its own or with seafood.

Loosen Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Kabinett 2004
Loosen Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Kabinett 2004 - £12.39
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
When it comes to quality German Riesling like this, ''No other wine can offer in a single sip as much finesse, purity of fruit, intensity of flavour and thrilling acidity'' (New Sotheby's Wine Encyclopedia). And after years of being overlooked, it's now very much the 'in' style - especially over the Summer months. Happily, prices don't yet reflect the high quality, so the value is outstanding. Ernst Loosen has been both 'Decanter Man of the Year' and the 'White Winemaker of the Year' at the International Wine Challenge, so you'd be hard pressed to find a finer exponent of fabulous German Rieslings. This is a Kabinett - a step up from standard QbA wines with a little more intensity and finesse. It's mouthwatering aromas recall lemons, lime and passion fruit, while its fresh, fruitiness is balanced by irresistibly racy acidity. Serve lightly chilled as an aperitif, with pan fried scallops, grilled fish fillets or a light green pea risotto.

Roger et Didier Raimbault Sancerre 2005
Roger et Didier Raimbault Sancerre 2005 - £12.39

They combine a passion for quality with a deep respect for the soil - tending their precious old vines with a green fingered approach to please any environmentalist. Intense and complex with a laser-like purity of steely fresh flint. Classic cut grass and gooseberry aromas and citrus-charged flavours. Mouthwateringly crisp. Exquisite with grilled goat's cheese.

Domaine Durup La Marche du Roi 2005
Domaine Durup La Marche du Roi 2005 - £12.39
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Thirty years ago, in the early days, Jean Durup supplied us with fine Chablis from his family domaine. Today Durup Chablis returns, with a very special wine released under the name of Jean's daughter Valerie. It's from a small (4.5 hectares) plot called 'La Marche du Roi' in a steep-sided valley where the earliest vineyards of Chablis were originally planted. Its excellent aspect (fully exposed to the sun), matches neighbouring Premier and Grand Cru vineyards. Yet, for no good reason, it was overlooked by the authorities who classified the vineyards of Chablis. This is clearly a Chablis that punches well above it standard AOC designation. A very smart buy for Chablis lovers who care more for the content of the bottle than the label! Lavished with exceptional care, concentrated and intense, it ranks as one of the region's least-known stars. Pale gold with fresh aromas and great concentration of vibrant, fresh flavours - this is a serious Chablis!

Thierry and Pascale Matrot 2006
Thierry and Pascale Matrot 2006 - £12.39
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Meursault specialist Thierry Matrot is ''a top class producer'' (Wine International) who extends the same care to his Bourgogne as his highly prized Premiers Crus. Indeed, this tastes like a 'mini Meursault' - such is the purity of its honeyed citrus fruits and creamy opulence. Pound for pound one of the wines of the vintage!
