El Loro Bonarda 2007
El Loro Bonarda 2007 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
El Loro (the parrot) will totally charm you! Chief winemaker Rodolfo Griguol insists that it's one of the juiciest reds he's ever made - and we couldn't agree more. Tipped to be the next top red wine sensation, Bondara is a dark, spicy original from Argentina. In the Andean foothills of the Mendoza region, high altitude and warm, sunny days allow these richly-coloured grapes to ripen fully. Bright ruby in colour with aromas of jammy fruit, cherries and smoky spice. Firmly structured with ripe blackberry fruit flavours with a hint of coffee. Perfect with barbequed steak or tomato and basil pasta.

Les Tours de la Citadelle 2005
Les Tours de la Citadelle 2005 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Magnificently herby original from the outskirts of the magnificent medieval walled city of Carcassonne. Made from 100% Grenache, this juicy gem is packed with flavour - thanks to a sun-soaked 2005 vintage. 2005 was a fantastic across France, and red wines in the Languedoc region achieved seriously concentrated, ripe fruit flavours - as this gem will attest to! Deliciously rich, with abundant blackberry, chocolate and red fruit flavours - this voluptuous red is the perfect partner to bangers and mash. Enjoy!

Grand Lescure 2006
Grand Lescure 2006 - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Handcrafted by expert winemaker Jean-Pierre Chanteraud to commemorate the winery's 60th anniversary, this luscious red is a rare gem! It's made from Negrette - an aromatic local variety that's for years been championed by Jean-Pierre for it's spicy, succulent fruit flavour. There's also a splash of Cabernet Franc and juicy Syrah in the blend for extra body and complexity. Deep ruby in colour with abundant black cherry, cranberry and mulberry flavours. Delicious as a glass on its own or with barbequed meats.

Posada del Rey
Posada del Rey - £5.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Posada del Rey is Rioja how the locals like it - fresh, juicy and unoaked. Strict winemaking laws restricting harvest yields in Spain's No.1 red wine region mean any surplus grapes must be 'declassified' and labelled table wine. The good news is that you enjoy Rioja in the bottle - just not on the label ... hence the fabulously low price! ''Vibrant ruby red with deep flavours of juicy redcurrant, plum and black cherry and a silky smooth finish. Superb with lamb and tapas - a delight too on its own.''

Anta da Serra 2005
Anta da Serra 2005 - £6.15
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
This super-rich red is the latest star from cult producer Redondo, based in Portugal's illustrious Alentejo region. The wines of Alentejo are renowned for their high quality and still offer incredible value for money! Top wineries across the globe are frantically buying property in the area - including Baron Rothschild-Lafite! Winemaker Pedro Hipolitou blended traditional local varieties with just a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon for extra richness. Intense ruby colour with vibrant redcurrant and vanilla aromas. Powerful and concentrated with hints of damson and blackberry with a peppery edge. Great with roasts, game pie or vegetable moussaka.

Paolo Masi Poggerissi Rosso di Toscana 2005
Paolo Masi Poggerissi Rosso di Toscana 2005 - £6.15
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
The Masi family's Fattoria di Basciano estate is a shining beacon of quality and value in the rolling hills of Tuscany. Established by Paolo Masi's grandfather and name-sake in 1900 to make wine for the family, the estate now has a devoted following. Silky with fresh cherry fruit, this red slips down deliciously easily on its own. Like a good Chianti, it's great too with mid-weight dishes of chicken, herby roasted vegetables or risotto.

Villa Icona Sangiovese 2006
Villa Icona Sangiovese 2006 - £6.15
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
From ''an estate every Italian wine lover should discover'' (Decanter) comes the stunning new vintage of this much-loved classic. The good news is that it still costs but a fraction of the price of the top Chianti Riservas it beat a few short years ago at the world's biggest wine competition! Unbeatable value, Villa Icona is made from the same grape as Chianti, but hails from the beautiful eastern coastal region of Le Marche that's starting to garner the rave reviews it deserves. The 2006 shows wonderful complexity of earthy, mineral notes and great vanilla and redcurrant fruit. Very lovely wine to serve with meaty pasta dishes from spaghetti to lasagne.

Loreto di Vestino 2006
Loreto di Vestino 2006 - £6.15
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Loreto di Vestino is a gorgeously authentic Italian red made by the great Ettore Galasso. His quality wines have delighted fans for years and you may recall how cock-a-hoop he was after the stunning 2004 Gold medal win in Tuscany. The black cherry Montepulciano grape is Ettore's speciality, a rich, warming grape of pure, lip-smacking drinkability. Which is why Signor Galasso and family enjoy a glass or two of 'Loreto' alongside their weekday meals. Unlike their flagship, barrel-aged 'Torre Galasso', Loreto di Vestina has not seen a splinter of oak. The grapes do however come from the same quality vineyards on the slopes around Vestina. This lighter, some might say more traditional style of Montepuliciano, is all juicy, soft red fruit, with aromas of violets and liquorice - and loaded with black cherries and forest berries.

Arriero Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Arriero Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 - £6.15
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
The Mendoza province is the grape-growing area in Argentina, and Arriero is the area's second largest winery. It has invested heavily to produce good value, high quality New World wines - like this deliciously smooth Shiraz Cabernet. The vineyards are about 60km north of Mendoza itself, which is an area of cold winters and hot summers. Rainfall is low but abundant snowmelt from the mountains allows irrigation when required. At 800 metres above sea level, the variation between day and night temperatures accentuates the aromatic intensity of the grapes. And 2006 was a dry vintage giving wines of impressive concentration. You'll love the spicy, brambly, cassis character of this wine. It's smooth and instantly appealing. Serve with roast lamb or beef casserole.

Ramon Roqueta Tempranillo 2005
Ramon Roqueta Tempranillo 2005 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Winemakers in the mountains of Pla de Bages since 1199, the Roqueta family are blessed with incredibly healthy, high-altitude fruit. You'll note straight away the vibrant colour of this silkily smooth, oak-aged Tempranillo. Today the 12th century property is renowned in northern Spain for the quality of its wines. Indeed the Roqueta name features on the star-studded list of Spain's El Bulli - widely held to be one of the world's finest restaurant. Rich aromas and flavours of redcurrant and bramble. Mouthfilling texture and great concentration. Look too for notes of vanilla pods, spicy cloves and supple tannins. Perfect for meaty tapas dishes, mature cheeses and charcuterie.

Rusty Goat Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Rusty Goat Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
If you've ever been to the Australian outback, you'll know about that famous red soil (if not, think Ayers Rock and you'll be on the right track). And if you've driven around the tiny county of Warburn you may have seen the odd sight of hundreds of rusty-looking goats - their coats tinted by the red dust. Antonio Sergi, Warburn Estate's lead man, is also owner of the goats ... hence his affection for the name! The rich, red soil does have more important uses too - helping deliver outstanding Merlot and Cabernet grapes. Wine lovers the world over know of South Australia's legendary 'terra rosa' soil that produces such superb wines in the Coonawarra. In New South Wales, near Warburn Estate, the soil is very similar giving the vines the great drainage they need. Left on the vine longer to achieve maximum ripeness, this soft, silky wine is filled with aromas of red fruits, plums with a hint of oak. Lovely fruity flavours of redcurrant and plum with a touch of spice. Perfect for barbeque or Italian food.

Finca Olcadia Merlot 2004
Finca Olcadia Merlot 2004 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
With a Bronze medal from London's exacting International Wine Challenge, this is an exciting Merlot you can rely on to delight both your palate and pocket. The high plains of La Mancha offer ideal conditions for great value, quality table wines. A fact that has not gone unnoticed by some of Rioja's top houses. Many are now diversifying by investing heavily in this region. Finca Olcadia is in fact owned by 'Riojan royalty', the Bujanda family who, as you might expect, enforce the most meticulous standards and achieve terrific results. Plump and juicy with dark, berry fruit flavours and velvety tannins. The generous 14% alcohol is well balanced by the richness of the fruit. Serve at weekend barbecues, or with simple home cooked dishes such as shepherd pie or chilli con carne.

Seleccion de la Familia Oak Aged 2003
Seleccion de la Familia Oak Aged 2003 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Riojan royalty the Bujanda family are ''setting a new benchmark for quality'' (BBC Good Food Magazine) and have been crafting superb wines for more than two decades. The exclusive Seleccion de la Familia carries all the Bujanda hallmarks - smooth, barrel-aged (16 months in this case), traditionally made and just about the best-value red in their mightily impressive range. Seductive red cherry aroma, silky berry flavours and a smooth, mellow, Rioja-style oakiness. Tastes like the seriously made gem that it is, especially alongside lamb or beef.

Serret Cabernet Sauvignon 2004
Serret Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 - £6.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Just half an hour from Chateauneuf but on the other side of the mighty Rhone river, and high in the hinterland of the Ardeche, lies Valvigneres - the lost valley of the vines. This is rugged, wild country - the deep gorges were once a haven for the French Resistance and thwarted all but the most intrepid merchants. Now, thanks to the value its wines offer, a number of top Burgundy houses have invested in the area. The 2003 vintage of this Cabernet when last pitted against its peers in the Bordeaux style category, came a staggering third out of 47. No wonder the villagers (all 89 of them!) are so proud of their wine traditions. Blackcurrant and forest fruits flavours edged with a hint of savoury green pepper. A medium-bodied, long lasting mouthful that's especially recommended with hearty stews.
