Despite having 'retired' recently, Luis spends every day here, doing everything from painting to tending the tomato vines which grow along the vineyard walls, proving a wholesome snack for hungry workers during harvest. Laden with classic black and red fruit. 24 months' ageing in small French oak barriques adds lovely depth. Dense fruit, with truffles, nutmeg and a finish that lingers for hours.

Founded in the early 19th century by the esteemed painter John Lewis Brown, Chateau Cantenac-Brown has one of the most striking properties in Bordeaux. The Tudor style chateau was originally created as a 'folly' and was frequented by many of the great artists of the day, notably Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Today, the winery pays tribute to its bohemian heritage by using 100% organic techniques to produce their wines. Chateau Cantenac-Brown called their 2004 vintage ''one of the great vintages of these last years'' and we couldn't agree more! This gorgeous red is packed with soft and silky fruit with hints of red berries and liquorice. Complex and concentrated, it punches well above its price tag.

The result is a powerful and seductive style of Chateauneuf with deep colour and vibrant, ripe aromas of wild berries, spice and black pepper.
