Crafted by talented young winemaker Scipione Giuliani, who has used his experience of barrel-aged wines to give more complexity. Pale lemon in colour. Simple peachy and slightly grassy nose with a fresh, clean palate, hints of ripe peach and slight floral tones. Supremely quaffable at a great price. With its jagged coasts, seething volcanos and stony hillsides, Sicily emblemises the Mediterranean but - despite being one of Italy's most important regions in terms of quantity - its quality wines are less well known. Philippe is so obsessive about the quality of his high altitude grapes that he's made one anyway - with magnificent results. He accepts having to label his wine as a humble Vin de Pays, and in this tough economic climate, he's happy to keep the price right down. Deliciously rounded with clean citrus and green apple flavours. Lively and fresh on the finish - it's a stunning partner to rich, creamy chicken dishes.
