Palazzo Simoncelli 2006
Palazzo Simoncelli 2006 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Pinot Grigio fans will adore the clean, crisp flavours of this authentic Orvieto ... and it passes the ultimate test of a good Italian white - it's superb with food. Winemaker Maurillio Chioccia is a master of food-friendly whites - so much so that sommeliers in restaurants all over Italy organised a day of celebration in his honour. 2006 was a ''breathtakingly good'' Italian vintage, giving Palazzo more flavour than ever. Halfway between Rome and Florence, the medieval, hill-top town of Orvieto is ''making a name for itself with top class whites'' (Decanter). This Orvieto Classico (from some of the town's finest vineyards) takes its name from the local 12th Century palazzo, owed by the Simoncellis until 200 years ago. Lemon in hue with fresh aromas, white fruit flavours - pears, apples, melons - and crisp minerally notes (a classic sign of top-notch Italian whites). Superb with creamy pasta or fresh salads.

Porton Viejo Sauvignon Blanc 2006
Porton Viejo Sauvignon Blanc 2006 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
''Chile's wines are getting better all the time'' (The Sunday Times) and this whistle-clean Sauvignon is no exception. 2006 was an outstanding vintage for aromatic whites - some say the 'best ever'. Crisp, fresh and intensely fruity, Porton Viejo combines the innovation and dynamism of the New World with the skill of the old - thanks to experienced French winemaker Frederic Novella. Sparkling bright with classic aromas of gooseberry, fresh green grass and a delicate hint of blossom. Bursting with tropical fruit and citrus flavours, savour chilled and solo, or enjoy with salads and fresh fish.

Dassen View Chenin Blanc 2006
Dassen View Chenin Blanc 2006 - £6.19

As a child, Jacques Erasmus dreamt of being a world-class winemaker. Starting with his first Chenin Blanc at the age of 12, he's been pursuing his dream ever since. Now he's turned his award-winning skills to Dassen View - named after an island close to the coastal vineyards. This 100% Chenin is fermented at low temperature to capture all the crisp fruit flavours. Pale lemon gold in colour with lively aromas of green apple and lemon. Appley-fresh flavours and citrus notes make this a great aperitif, or serve with prawn salad, a vegetable stir-fry or grilled white fish with chilli salsa.

Baron Lazare Pinot Grigio 2006
Baron Lazare Pinot Grigio 2006 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Adored for its pure refreshment, Pinot Grigio was originally bought to Hungary by Italians and the scintillating results taste just as good as their expensive Latin counterparts. This deliciously, zippy wine with an ancient heritage offers unrivalled value for money, and is a superb introduction to these historic vintages. ''Wonderfully crisp with fresh-cut grass and citrus aroma, plus refreshing citrus flavours''

La Renardiere Chardonnay 2006
La Renardiere Chardonnay 2006 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Zesty and refreshing Chardonnay named after one of the parcels of vines used to craft this elegant white ...''La Renardiere''. (The land in turn, takes its name from the many foxes that live wild in the area.) Founded in 1952 and situated half way between Nantes and Angers, the cellar ''Vignerons de la Noelle'' is extremely well equipped. Young winemaker Christophe Brevelet, who has worked in both the Loire Valley and California, takes full advantage of the winery's facilities and consistently crafts top quality, medal-winning wines. Delicate pale yellow in the glass, with exotic and ripe yellow fruit aromas. Gorgeous peach flavours, generous and well-balanced.

Domaine Liboreau Sauvignon Blanc 2006
Domaine Liboreau Sauvignon Blanc 2006 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Domaine Liboreau strikes Gold ... again! That's now THREE years in a row judges have recognised what many of you have known for years - this is Sauvignon at its refreshing, delicious best (and a great bargain too). Quite frankly, we didn't think that Gold Medal Liboreau 2005 could be trumped, but 2006 was another excellent year in this quietly elegant, coastal corner of southwest France. Plentiful sunshine has given this new release wonderful ripeness ... yet it wasn't scorchingly hot, making Liboreau better balanced and racier than ever. Gooseberry, lime and fresh-cut grass aromas followed by citrus flavours and tangy freshness - you couldn't wish for a crisper, more invigorating Sauvignon. Enjoy as an aperitif or alongside seafood.

His desire to bring this lesser known grape to the world... means we can exclusively provide this first-class wine at a fantastic price. ''Deep gold in colour, with heady aromas of lemon, ginger and almond. Its gently spicy citrus flavours are an absolute knockout with fresh, deep-fried calamari.''

Estampilla Torrontes 2007
Estampilla Torrontes 2007 - £6.19
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Packed with heady rose petal aromas, citrus tang and a hint of spiciness, it's little wonder that The Times calls ''Argentina's exotic, indigenous Torrontes'' the ''country's answer to Europe's Viognier''. Estampilla is made by the 'King of Torrontes', winemaker Dr. Rodolfo Griguol - Argentina's first Dr. of Oenology - who has put all his years of experience into crafting this unique, elegant wine. The grapes come from high altitude vineyards in the Famatina Valley, which benefit from plentiful sunshine and extremely low rainfall - it's so dry here that some young children have never seen clouds! This fantastic climate keeps the grapes healthy and allows them to ripen to perfection ... if you love aromatic, dry white wines, you'll love this! ''Light straw in colour, showing fresh blossom, lemon and lime aromas. Dry and tangy, with a rounded hint of spice on the finish. Delicious as an aperitif or with delicate seafood dishes.''

Marques de Bataneros Oak Aged 2003
Marques de Bataneros Oak Aged 2003 - £6.29

Made from the traditional Airen variety - the most widely grown grape on the plains of La Mancha - and partially fermented in brand new oak to add a touch of creamy, vanilla richness. Crafted by Felix Solis, one of the largest wineries in Spain. Their ability to transform tradtional grapes using modern technology has earned them countless awards. Superb, stone fruit flavours, with hints of toast, butter and vanilla. Excellent when matched with rich seafood dishes.

Albastrele Sauvignon Blanc 2006
Albastrele Sauvignon Blanc 2006 - £6.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
''There's a fresh purity of fruit in Moldova's ancient vineyards aching to find its way to the world's wine drinkers'' (The Financial Times). Fortunately some of the best already has and we definitely count this explosive Sauvignon among them. Consultant winemaker and Sauvignon expert Jean Marc Saubuoa was blown away by the quality of this wine. Forget any preconceptions you may have about this little known region, it's gradually gaining the recognition it deserves and hasn't really enjoyed since the time of the Tsars. Now is the time to be taking full advantage while prices remain so modest. Fresh cut grass and asparagus style with a hint of ripe passion fruit. Delicious on its own and even better served with barbecued prawn kebabs, hot goat's cheese salad or freshly steamed asparagus.

Albastrele Pinot Grigio 2006
Albastrele Pinot Grigio 2006 - £6.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Made from handpicked, 100% organic grapes, Albastrele captures all the fresh, crisp character that makes Pinot Grigio so delicious. A Sauvignon-like zing keeps this gem whistle-clean and thoroughly refreshing. A favourite of the Tsars, Moldovan wines are now being rediscovered thanks to the enthusiasm and acclaim Albastrele has enjoyed year after year. Since 2002 our buying team have braved white-knuckled flights, and a distinct lack of signposts, to return these superb wines to the international menu. Rich green-gold with floral apple and pear aromas. Intense citrus and stone fruit flavours make for truly mouthwatering enjoyment. Great as an aperitif and delicious with salmon en croute, asparagus risotto or seafood tagliatelle.

Presenting Spain's most refreshing Summer white! When temperatures rise in southern Spain, wine lovers turn to Castillo de San Diego. That's how Robert Parker described the 2006 vintage of this thrilling white. Secret to its success is the Palomino grape which thrives on the chalk white soils of Jerez. Hugely aromatic, it's made by leading Spanish winery, Felix Solis. Domaine Les Fontaines Sauvignon Blanc 2004
Domaine Les Fontaines Sauvignon Blanc 2004 - £6.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
The Montarioul family certainly know their grapes - they've been sourcing them for years and only pick the best to craft this excellent, fresh Sauvignon, no mean feat in the sun-soaked south of France! If the grapes get too ripe Sauvignon loses its flavour, so you need to pick early - and 2004 helped ... it was a cooler summer than the blisteringly hot 2003, allowing a longer, slower ripening time. With the combination of best fruit and the best modern equipment (brand new stainless steel tanks) what you get is an Old World wien made with an innovative New World outlook - richer than a Sancerre but not as in your face as a Kiwi Sauvignon. Soft, concentrated and with a nice minerallity.

Angove's Colombard Sauvignon Verdelho 2005
Angove's Colombard Sauvignon Verdelho 2005 - £6.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
With 393 international awards in the last five years alone, the fifth generation of this Cornish family (they emigrated in 1886) has built upon and confirmed their winery's fame for innovation, flair and success. Take this attractive white - a rare and unique combination of Colombard, Sauvignon and Verdelho. All of the varieties were picked early for added freshness and with no oak in evidence, you're tasting pure, clean flavours! Gentle, stony peach fruit alongside richer tropical flavours - and a mouthwatering citrussy crispness that gives way to a honeyed finish. Spot on with seafood, chicken and creamy pasta.

Yarrunga Field 2006
Yarrunga Field 2006 - £6.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Thirteen vintages after customers delighted in its Gold medal debut, the exceptionally moreish and supremely versatile Yarrunga Field is not only going strong ... it just keeps getting better and better! And here's the 2006 to prove it. One of our original 'sunshine in the glass' wines, it is made by multi award-winning Sam Trimboli. Sam has always made Yarrunga in tiny volumes - less than 1% of some supermarket big brands and with loads more character - and this vintage is no exception. Bright straw colour and refreshing aromas of pineapple, citrus and oaky, vanilla hints. Deliciously versatile. The crisp, long-lasting melony flavours complement soft cheeses, poached salmon, roasted poultry or Asian dishes.

Lasseter's Reef Verdelho 2006
Lasseter's Reef Verdelho 2006 - £6.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Named after the legendary Henry Lasseter and his mythical 'Reef of Gold', refreshing, fruit-laden Lasseter's Reef is a great contender for the definition of drinkability. It's fruit-laden core is the crowd-pleasing Verdelho grape. ''Top-drawer Verdelho has an amazingly zesty, tropical flavour'' said Matthew Jukes in The Daily Mail. That's exactly what you'll find here, plus a touch of creamy roundness. Though still quite rare, Verdelho is the 'in' grape Down Under among lovers of smart whites. Enticing aromas of pineapple, peach and freshly mown grass. Crisp flavours of sweet melon and guava. Serve chilled on its own or enjoy with grilled king prawns, pasta or chicken.

Berton Weigh Station Chenin Blanc 2006
Berton Weigh Station Chenin Blanc 2006 - £6.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Aussie Bob Berton is an old friend who has made some of our favourite wines (think Willy Willy!). He has now invested in a cellar all of his own, and this white is one of his first releases. Chenin Blanc is a hugely versatile but under-rated grape. Best known in France's Loire Valley, it's capable of producing wines in a massive range of styles - all with a captivating and refreshing vibrancy. In Australia's warm climate, this grape stays crisp, fruity and fresh. Pale straw in colour with aromas of lime, passionfruit and apple tart. Generous passionfruit and kiwi flavours. Delicious on its own, or enjoyed with warm lime and coriander chicken salad, creamy fish dishes or simply cold meats.
