Hommage a Pierre Alexandre Jean-Marie Raimbault 2006
Hommage a Pierre Alexandre Jean-Marie Raimbault 2006 - £8.95
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
For Sauvignon Blanc of mouthwatering purity and elegant minerality, most fans ideally head for Loire's Sancerre and Pouilly Fume regions, to an acclaimed producer and a great vintage, like 2006, in which wines ''are among the best ever'' (Wine Report). And they'd expect a hefty price tag too! Well today, you've a chance to enjoy a stunning, best-ever vintage Sauvignon ... and a classic to rate among the world's finest! Hommage a Pierre Alexandre is made in Sancerre (at one of the region's top cellars), but crafted with grapes grown in next-door, insider's secret Coteaux du Giennois, so you enjoy Sancerre quality ... at a very un-Sancerre price! And it bears all the hallmarks of the extraordinary 2006 harvest! As Jancis Robinson reports, ''the Loire had a terrific 2006 vintage ... success was not limited to Sancerre ... the smaller appellations nearby produced some mouthwatering wines''. Sparkling bright in the glass, this tantalizing white bears all the hallmark Sancerre characteristics. Exceptionally fresh and packed with vibrant cut-grass, gooseberry and green-apple flavours, it also has a mouth-biting crispness that Sauvignon fans will adore!

Domaine Touzot 2004
Domaine Touzot 2004 - £8.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Deliciously rich, white Burgundy from a southeast-facing vineyard in the Macon, similar in aspect to the top vineyards of the Cote d'Or ... and at 35 years old (plus), the vines here only produce a small quantity of very concentrated fruit. Barrel-fermentation in new oak barrels has added a layer of rich, creamy vanilla to the powerful, apricot fruit, beautifully balanced by a tang of citrus freshness. The wine has been made by a French winemaker whose experience has led him to South Africa, Greece and Cyprus. This has given the wine an almost New World character. Serve with cheesy choux pastry with a creamy filling, pasta with a luxurious seafood sauce, or rich white meat dishes. Only gently chill.

Visionario 2006

The Gooseberry Bush Colombard Sauvignon Blanc Riesling 2006
The Gooseberry Bush Colombard Sauvignon Blanc Riesling 2006 - £8.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Do not miss this! ''One of Australia's most talented and innovative winemakers'' says Oz Clarke, ''Always excellent - 5 STARS'' adds James Halliday, of the estate and husband-and-wife team behind this zesty, aromatic and unique white gem. Once again, this incredible deal necessitated a vow of silence on our part as to the true identity of the estate - they couldn't risk such a low price undermining their upmarket status. The rare combination of three intensely flavoured varieties makes for such a delightfully refreshing, very moreish aperitif you'll want to it enjoy time and time again. Take all you can! Zingy lime and fresh melon aromas. Crisp, racy citrus, stone fruit and apple blossom - absolutely delicious on its own or with seafood, fish, salads and white meat dishes

Andrew Garrett Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2006
Andrew Garrett Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2006 - £8.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
This leading Aussie winery produces ''excellent wine - at great value'' (James Halliday) and is among a diligent few who can bring out the best from Sauvignon in the Aussie heat. Veterans of the Australian wine industry - Stephen Obst and Ivan Limb - have over the years worked for some of the biggest names in Oz, but have now decided to go solo. Andrew Garrett Sauvignon is made purely from grapes grown at their own vineyard on the tough, rocky soil of Waikeri. This crisp, succulent gem is a match for pricier New Zealand rivals, tangy and rich with a lovely balance of fresh lime, peach notes and a slightly spicy edge. Enjoy as an aperitif or serve chilled with a tomato and goats cheese tart.

Gran Valle de Niebla Sauvignon Blanc 2006
Gran Valle de Niebla Sauvignon Blanc 2006 - £8.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Here's a white of fabulous intensity and distinction from the remarkably talented Adolfo Hurtado, whose dedication to innovation and quality has earnt him worldwide acclaim as one of the finest winemakers in Chile. As a result, his top cuvees can command upward of #15 a bottle! But not for old friends ... we've worked with Adolfo for years, and he's happy to give you first taste of his piercingly fresh Sauvignon. It's made from the fruit of meticulously selected vineyard plots in the Great Valley of Fog (Gran Valle de Niebla) where foggy mornings allow grapes to ripen perfectly, whilst retaining the crisp citrus freshness - a hallmark of world-class Sauvignon. ''Long-lasting flavours of zesty lime and gooseberry. Crisp and pure, it makes an excellent aperitif and excels with grilled fish or salads.''

Brothers Francois and Michel Quinton have turned little Domaine de Villegeai into a very sought-after Loire name. Celebrated - yet little-known - Coteaux du Giennois sits across the river from Sancerre and offers supreme value. Outstanding quality has seen the area recently awarded Appellation Controlee status, but for now prices remain in your favour. With 2006, a ''terrific vintage'' (Joanna Simon), now's the time to sample this mouthwatering Sauvignon. ''Bright straw colour with leap-from-the-glass aromas of gooseberry and lime and a touch of the flintiness that hallmarks top Loire whites. Concentrated lemon and grapefruit flavours and fresh, minerally notes. A Loire classic to savour ... as an aperitif, or alongside Dover sole and other fine seafood dishes.''

Casella Family Reserve Limited Release Pinot Grigio 2006 - £8.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
''The Australian wine scene is now mad about Pinot Grigio,'' writes Jancis Robinson in the FT. Which makes it virtually impossible to bring fantastic parcels back to the UK - unless you have great contacts. Step forward John Casella, a winemaking genius we first met more than a decade ago when he was at Sam Trimboli's 250-medal-a-year Riverina Estate. Now he's running the family winery, where he has a small vineyard of specially planted Pinot Grigio vines from which he crafts this thirst-quenching gem. Apple, pear and lime aromas and floral notes too. Lovely and round with tangy, citrus and grapefruit flavours. Totally dry with complex minerally notes. The perfect partner for aromatic Thai dishes. Rich, concentrated but be warned ... very little to go round, so get in quick.
