Emmanuel Dampt Chevalier d'Eon 2004
Emmanuel Dampt Chevalier d'Eon 2004 - £9.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Chevalier d'Eon is an inspirational Burgundy guests will love ... and they'll enjoy the story too! Tonnerre's wines were once favoured by the royal courts of Europe, introduced to them by the Chevalier, a passionate advoacte of Tonnerre wines ... and a secret agent of Louis XV who infiltrated these courts dressed as a woman. Following the turmoil of the French Revolution, the vineyards were abandoned. Then in the 1980s, Chablis winemaker Bernard Dampt replanted a wildly overgrown, once-sacred plot. Now his three sons (one of whom was recently voted Chablis's Young Winemaker of the Year) love making this special wine - and winning medals! Very Chablis like in style with aromas of citrus and sweet gooseberry leading to the full, round palate of great Burgundy. ''2004 is a great vintage for lovers of white Burgundy ... the wines are delicious - cool, fragrant, pure and fruity'' (Decanter).

Paul Zinck Riesling Prestige 2005

Richly concentrated, from the superlative 2005 vintage and one of the region's leading names.

V.R
V.R - £9.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
This fabulous Viognier (code name VR) is one of the first releases from our beautiful old 'Chai' that lies on the quayside at Castillon, Bordeaux.'Le Chai au Quai (pronounced 'Shay OK'), allows us to cherry pick the finest parcels of wine and age them to add complexity ... and still be able to offer them to you at remarkably low prices! Our winemaker Jean-Marc Sauboua took the finest parcels of Viognier from southern France's superlative 2005 vintage and slowly fermented them to fully capture the famous honeyed apricot flavour that fans love so much. He then aged the wine in fine French oak, just like they do for #20-a-bottle Condrieu. Fresh stone fruit and honey aromas, with a hint of blossom. Rich and full with a touch of cinnamon spice and vanilla from the oak ageing. A lovely partner to creamy fish or seafood dishes.

V.O
V.O - £9.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
We can't wait for you to try this super fresh white from Rueda - Spain's answer to Sancerre - especially as it's one of the first releases from 'Le Chai au Quai' (pronounced 'Shay OK'). This beautiful old building on the quayside at Castillon, Bordeaux, means we can select fine parcels of wine from different producers and then age them to add complexity ... and still be able to offer them to you at remarkably low prices! Ultra refreshing - think REALLY intense Sauvignon Blanc - this wine showcases the quality of Spanish whites now being produced. Crisp citrus flavours, with a touch of almond, and a mouthwatering finish, make this an ideal aperitif that is equally at home with light seafood dishes or goat's cheese.

Le Clou
Le Clou - £9.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Lovingly hand crafted, 'Le Clou' is made to resemble fine white Burgundy ... but for much less than the usual #20-a-bottle price! Little wonder it's become a real favourite over the years! It's only made in the very best vintages, using fruit sourced near Carcassone - a region famed for its cool-climate Chardonnay. Winemaker Jean-Marc Sauboua has won plenty of awards for his wines and has developed an extensive network of grape-growing friends in the area, which allows him to cherry-pick only the very best fruit. Complex flavours of lemon, lychee and toasty butter from nine months spent mellowing in the best oak barriques. Rich and fat, with a long dry finish. Like fine Meursault, it's a must for luxury dining.

Split Rock Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Split Rock Sauvignon Blanc 2007 - £9.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Named after the striking Split Apple Rock in the nearby Able Tasman national park, Split Rock is family-made classic from Herman Seifried, his wife Agnes and their three children. Hermann first planted vines at their estate in 1973, building the South Island's very first winery with the help of his local church. Limited quantities lavished by care and attention, make this aromatic Sauvignon a great introduction to beautiful Nelson - New Zealand's white wine hotspot of the moment. It's amazingly ripe and aromatic thanks to the 2,400 hours of sunshine the region enjoys. Power-packed aromas of freshly shelled peas, cut grass and nettles, this Sauvignon is awash with mouthwatering gooseberry, lime and capsicum flavours. Super aperitif, even better with seafood.

G.G. Grenache Gris
G.G. Grenache Gris - £9.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Made using hard-to-find grape variety Grenache Gris which is picked from among red Grenache grapes in vineyards in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The vines in these vineyards are all over 50-years-old, with some nearing 100, and the yields, as a result, are miniscule. Tiny volumes, though, mean seriously concentrated grapes ... and a wine that's bursting with fresh fruit flavours. Winemaker Mark Hoddy - originally from Jersey, but with plenty of winemaking experience all over the world - took the grapes up to our Chai in Castillon, where he gave them top treatment ... the wine was fermented in oak barrels to add a touch of warm vanilla and toast to the rich, peach flavours. If you like full flavoured Chardonnay or Semillon Blanc, you'll love this! Vibrant ripe apricot and peach, with touches of butter, toast and a hit of vanilla spice. Lingers on and on. Delicious enjoyed on its own or will make a great match for monkfish and tuna dishes.
