JMS Sauvignon 2007
JMS Sauvignon 2007 - £8.29
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
For years Jean-Marc Sauboua has been the genius behind Laithwaite Sauvignon - winning Trophies, press acclaim and a passionate customer following. He does the work. I put my name to it - hardly fair is it?! So when he said he'd been working on his very own version of 'Te Koko' (Cloudy Bay's #25-a-bottle, barrel-fermented, prestige cuvee) we were very excited - and felt he ought to take the glory ... and with his initials on the label, he'd surely work even harder too! JMS chose the best parcel of Laithwaite Sauvignon 2007, itself a BIG Trophy winner. So imagine how good this is! Has the clean, freshly cut grass aromas we love, and (with careful barrel fermentation) cream, vanilla, depth, length. This is 'thinking person's Sauvignon', Sunday best Sauvignon ... try it!

Blanc Neuf La Bastide 2006
Blanc Neuf La Bastide 2006 - £8.39
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Proudly showing its 'Best-in-Class' accolade, this brand new, golden white has real Grand Cru pedigree. It's made by Olivier Bayle (ex Lafite Rothschild!) and is so much like white Chateauneuf-du-Pape that our staff call it 'Baby Beaucastel Blanc' (a nod to the region's top estate). Olivier's big, rich reds have always been a huge hit - which is why he was delighted to take up our challenge to make a white every bit as serious. And what a triumph! A classic Rhone blend - Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne - barrel-fermented to add toasty richness to the crisp peach and apricot. ''This is beautifully balanced and creamily textured wine with an alluring, peachy nose and succulent honeysuckle and pear palate. A grand wine designed for fish main courses or roast pork, it is a real treat.'' Matthew Jukes

Von Buhl Riesling QBA 2005
Von Buhl Riesling QBA 2005 - £8.49
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
When it comes to top-quality Riesling there is concord amongst experts. They differ only in choice of superlative the'most sublime'...'most mouthwatering and elegant'... 'aristocratic'...'prince of grapes'. The family-owned Von Buhl estate has been one of the finest producers of supreme quality Riesling since it was founded in 1849. Today their Rieslings consistently receive ratings over 90 points from Wine Spectator and Robert Parker. A leading German wine publication lists a Von Buhl wine amongst the best 100 in the world, and their top releases sell for #150-a-half bottle! The vintage (very sunny with a short, early harvest) was, according to one local expert ''perfect! One of the best in the last 50 years.'' Elegantly pairing Riesling's lightness of touch with ripe, full-flavoured fruit. Luscious, not sweet, yet zippy too - and with a delightful echo of peaches and pears. Fresh and appetizing with almost any food, from salmon to chicken to cheese and fruit - even Indian and Thai curry.

Exceptionally fresh and packed with vibrant cut-grass, gooseberry and green-apple flavours, it also has a mouth-biting crispness that Sauvignon fans will adore!

Domaine Touzot 2004
Domaine Touzot 2004 - £8.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Deliciously rich, white Burgundy from a southeast-facing vineyard in the Macon, similar in aspect to the top vineyards of the Cote d'Or ... and at 35 years old (plus), the vines here only produce a small quantity of very concentrated fruit. Barrel-fermentation in new oak barrels has added a layer of rich, creamy vanilla to the powerful, apricot fruit, beautifully balanced by a tang of citrus freshness. The wine has been made by a French winemaker whose experience has led him to South Africa, Greece and Cyprus. This has given the wine an almost New World character. Serve with cheesy choux pastry with a creamy filling, pasta with a luxurious seafood sauce, or rich white meat dishes. Only gently chill.

The Gooseberry Bush Colombard Sauvignon Blanc Riesling 2006 - £8.99
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Do not miss this! ''One of Australia's most talented and innovative winemakers'' says Oz Clarke, ''Always excellent - 5 STARS'' adds James Halliday, of the estate and husband-and-wife team behind this zesty, aromatic and unique white gem. Once again, this incredible deal necessitated a vow of silence on our part as to the true identity of the estate - they couldn't risk such a low price undermining their upmarket status. The rare combination of three intensely flavoured varieties makes for such a delightfully refreshing, very moreish aperitif you'll want to it enjoy time and time again. Take all you can! Zingy lime and fresh melon aromas. Crisp, racy citrus, stone fruit and apple blossom - absolutely delicious on its own or with seafood, fish, salads and white meat dishes
