Robert Nicolle 2006
Robert Nicolle 2006 - £11.39
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
''Make hay whilst this glorious sun shines'' is Jancis Robinson's advice for the ''outstanding'' 2006 Chablis vintage - and our top pick would be this mouthwatering gem ... from our favourite small estate! When Robert and his wife Josette set up their domaine over 20 years ago, they brought together two Chablis winemaking families ... to critical acclaim. They are first port of call when we visit Chablis each year ... and their 2006 is the best we've tasted since the classic 2002s. Wonderful ripe fruit and Summer flower aromas. Crisp, fresh and extremely elegant - with that distinctive minerality typical of great Chablis. A huge favourite at tastings and here at HQ ... order yours today!

Domaine Long-Depaquit 2005
Domaine Long-Depaquit 2005 - £11.55
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Domaine Long-Depaquit's Gerard Vullien co-founded the Union des Grands Crus - an elite group making wine ''of a quality to set them among the world's greatest whites''. He is a world-renowned Chablis master whose every release offers Chablis at its striking peak. Gerard's reputation for lavishing the same care across his entire range is evident in this racy, minerally Chablis ... and underlines why ''you should go to any lengths to secure Chablis 2005'' (Revue du Vin). Pale green-gold with fresh citrus fruit, hawthorn blossom and subtle mineral aromas. Well-structured with mouthfilling weight and rich flavour.

Les Matifets 2006
Les Matifets 2006 - £11.55
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Next door to Sancerre is tiny, exclusive Pouilly-Fume - prized for explosive Sauvignon ... with a famous hint of gunflint. Les Matifets is a prime, single vineyard in the heart of the region that is blessed with ancient vines and an exemplary climate, perfect for ripening grapes to perfection. Intense and fragrant, thanks to a cracking 2006 vintage this whistle-clean gem is sure to impress. Joanna Simon of The Sunday Times says ''the 2006's have the edge'' ... and judging by this stellar example, she's absolutely right! ''A textbook example of Pouilly-Fume. Crisp and mineral, with the freshness of nettles and wild mint on the nose. Freshly cut hay on the palate, medium bodied and concentrated in flavour.'' (Decanter)

Valbene Picolit (half bottle) 2004
Valbene Picolit (half bottle) 2004 - £11.59
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Beautifully presented and absolutely delectable, this delicious, off-dry Italian rarity is crafted from the dried fruit of the Picolit vine by Allesandro Gallici. There are only 25 hectares of Picolit in the whole of the Friuli region of northern Italy ... and the grape isn't really grown anywhere else. It really is a rare treasure and this one is of such terrific quality it was awarded Silver at the International Wine Challenge. Immense sweetness and concentration but beautifully balanced with mouthwatering notes of honey and almonds. A delight served chilled on its own or with blue cheeses or desserts.

Domaine des Cottereaux 2006
Domaine des Cottereaux 2006 - £11.79
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
A perfect balance of crisp, refreshing citrus flavours, and rich 'mineral' complexity have earned Domaine des Cottereaux Sancerre many medals and wide critical acclaim over the years. Why does Jean-Marie's Sancerre win so many awards, and taste that bit more refined than so many local rivals? He points out that his tiny domaine, inherited from his father 20 years ago, includes many small parcels of Sauvignon vines, dotted amongst premium sites with a great diversity of terroirs. This, he says, adds complexity and depth to his wine and especially in 2006, a very good vintage for the Loire. A good relationship with Jean-Marie, lasting seven vintages now, secured us a parcel - albeit strictly limited. A wonderful opportunity to enjoy one of the world's best-loved classic whites from an excellent vintage. Pale gold colour with a fine racy nose of citrus and white flowers. Crisp, rich and beautifully balanced with lime and gooseberry flavours and a subtle minerally edge. Enjoy as an aperitif or with grilled fish.

Les Fargettes Cave de Vire 2005
Les Fargettes Cave de Vire 2005 - £11.89
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Those in the know have always headed to Maconnais ''for good white Burgundy that won't break the bank'' (Wine International). In a 5-star year like 2005, it's the place to find excellence at a sensible price. The vine-topped hills boast the same limestone soils as the famous Cote d'Or ... and Les Fargettes comes courtesy of a single vineyard in Vire-Clesse ... a new appellation created in 1998 from two of the best Maconnais Villages. Made by top winemaker Vincent Bartement, who has worked hard to raise the quality bar ... no wonder Oz Clarke rates the estate as one of Vire-Clesse's very best producers. Les Fargettes is all you'd expect of the world's most hedonistic white wine style. Delicate, floral aromas, wonderfully rich Chardonnay fruit, a mouthwatering crispness and that delicious hint of minerality. After one sip you'll be smitten!

Domaine Merlin-Cherrier Cuvee Helene 2006
Domaine Merlin-Cherrier Cuvee Helene 2006 - £11.89
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Thierry Merlin-Cherrier has one huge quality advantage - his family's tiny domaine can be found in the fine cru of Bue, singled out by Sotheby's World Wine Encyclopaedia for ''the very best Sancerres of the entire appellation''. And Thierry is ''one of the unsung stars of Bue'' according to Robert Parker, who is a big fan of this estate. Every vintage stands out but the 2006 boasts an extra, mouthwatering richness - ''Sancerre had a terrific 2006 ... the previous year was very good, but the 2006s have the edge'' (Joanna Simon, The Times) Intensely perfumed with tantalising citrus and mineral notes, which continue on the palate. Brimful of fresh citrus and pear flavours ... luxurious, long, tangy finish.

Domaine Michel Thomas 2007
Domaine Michel Thomas 2007 - £11.89
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Michel Thomas and his son Laurent are renowned for their skill in the vineyard and the cellar - ensuring that their wines are always among the region's finest. Dozens of major awards in the last decade underline their commitment to quality. Vivacious gooseberry, citrus and mineral flavours that have impressed both Parker and Guide Hachette.

Domaine Daniel Reverdy 2006
Domaine Daniel Reverdy 2006 - £11.95

Stunningly rich vintage of a perennial show stealer with the gooseberry and passion fruit intensity that Reverdy fans adore.

Domaine Raimbault-Pineau 'Les Chasseignes' 2006
Domaine Raimbault-Pineau 'Les Chasseignes' 2006 - £11.95
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Fabulously fresh, single-vineyard cuvee from husband and wife team Jean-Marie and Sonia Raimbault whose domaine has been in the family for over 300 years. With three centuries of Sancerre savoir faire, little wonder that this is Sauvignon at its racy best. Using fruit sourced from a single and celebrated 'Les Chasseignes' vineyard, they have produced one of the most intense, mineral-rich Sauvignons we have ever tasted. From the first sniff of rich gooseberry and cut-grass aromas to the last tingle of fresh mineral flavour, Les Chasseignes is a sheer delight. A perfect balance of crisp, refreshing citrus flavours and rich complexity that characterise the finest Loire whites. Superb with asparagus salads, goat's cheese or seafood - especially scallops.
