Yarrunga Field

Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Thirteen vintages after customers delighted in its Gold medal debut, the exceptionally moreish and supremely versatile Yarrunga Field is not only going strong ... it just keeps getting better and better! And here's the 2006 to prove it. One of our original 'sunshine in the glass' wines, it is made by multi award-winning Sam Trimboli. Sam has always made Yarrunga in tiny volumes - less than 1% of some supermarket big brands and with loads more character - and this vintage is no exception. Bright straw colour and refreshing aromas of pineapple, citrus and oaky, vanilla hints. Deliciously versatile. The crisp, long-lasting melony flavours complement soft cheeses, poached salmon, roasted poultry or Asian dishes.

Casa del Rio Verde Sauvignon Blanc

Zesty, refreshing Chilean Sauvignon - an exclusive find for us made by super-talented winemaker Adolfo Hurtado at the award-winning Cono Sur winery, known for pushing the boundaries of Chilean winemaking with special projects like this. Young Adolfo has astounded the international wine circuit by scooping more awards than any other winemaker in Chile's history. He identified some special parcels of vineyard in the warm, lush Colchagua valley next to a river called the Rio Verde. The fruit here ripens easily but retains its elegance and balance thanks to the cooling breezes brought by the river. Bright, pale lemon colour. Vibrant aromas of ripe pear and citrus ... following through on the palate with refreshing grapefruit and a delicious crispness. And 2007 is proving a terrific year for aromatic whites of this quality.

Zamba Sauvignon Blanc
Zamba Sauvignon Blanc - £37.74
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
This piercingly aromatic Sauvignon comes from some of the world's highest vineyards, located in Argentina's isolated Famatina Valley, some eight hours drive north of the city of Mendoza. Here the combination of high altitude, long sunshine hours and low rainfall makes for a perfect grape growing climate. Highly experienced winemaker Rodolfo Griguol has worked in this region for many years, and during that time has built up a network of contacts with the best growers. He takes only top quality grapes from them to make Zamba - a deliciously mouthwatering, grapefruit and passionfruit flavoured white wine, named after a distinctive Argentinian music and dance. A tongue-tingling array of grapefruit, lime and passionfruit flavours make this the perfect partner for sea bass of a plate of chargrilled prawns. Snap up this seriously refreshing, great value-for-money gem while stocks last!

Aresti Estate Old Vine Gewurztraminer - £37.74
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
This old-vine superstar from the acclaimed Aresti family is made from rare but opulently aromatic Gewurztraminer, which thrives in Chile's Curico Valley. It's thanks to Chile that Alsace's most exotic grape variety is regaining the limelight - even though it's so scarce it only accounts for 0.2% of Chile's plantings. Exceptionally aromatic and crisp, this textbook Gewurz is made along very organic lines as Aresti's vineyards are blessed with Eden-like conditions. The old-vine fruit is harvested at night and fermented at low temperature to keep all its enticing character. Spicy, crisp and fragrant with aromas of lychees, limes and rose blossom. Refreshing and captivating flavours of ripe apricot, lychee, citrus and a hint of spice. A fantastic aperitif - delicious with Thai, Asian and Japanese cuisine too.

Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Introducing Joubert's Chenin - our most exciting Cape discovery for years. It's loaded with vibrant citrus and tropical fruit intensity, making the perfect aperitif. Club buyer Nick Taylor has been working round the clock to bring you something extra special from Stellenbosch - ''the pre-eminent South African wine appellation'' (Decanter magazine). And he's found it in this supreme Chenin from Beau Joubert, an estate which dates back to 1695. It's one of the highest in Stellenbosch, with stunning views of False Bay and Table Mountain and has been run by the Joubert family for generations. This is premium Cape wine country which the Joubert family share with very expensive names such as Amani, Jordan and Saxenburg. Same soils, climate and dedication - but look what great value you get here. South African Chenin at its pristine, aromatic best. Fresh, concentrated and bursting with crisp lime, guava and pineapple flavours. Super on its own or alongside seafood.

Groenendal Vineyards Chenin Blanc
Groenendal Vineyards Chenin Blanc - £37.74
Price on 16-Jun-08 from Laithwaites.
Chenin Blanc has been grown in the Cape since the first settlers arrived from the Loire Valley in the 1660s. It's found something of a home from home, giving supremely elegant, complex and long-lived wines - ''a vinous national treasure'' the Wine Spectator calls it. The Bolvei cellar in Wellington are celebrating their centenary year in 2007 - so it's clear they know a thing or two about producing wine in South Africa. Their stunning Chenin was made from grapes grown on the dramatic slopes of the Groenenberg mountain, during the outstanding 2007 vintage. Imagine biting into a crisp green apple ... then enjoying an explosion of ripe peach, citrus and guava. Delightfully mouthwatering on the finish, it's fantastic on its own or enjoyed with fresh grilled fish.
