Chateau Francois Brugier 2004 - £6.99Price on from Laithwaites.Between the rivers Dordogne and Garonne - and hence the name meaning 'between two seas' - the Entre-Deux-Mers has proved to be a dazzling source of extremely drinkable, excellent quality and very good value whites - if you know where to find them. Not far from the ancient walled city of Sauverterre, in the village of Romagne is the small estate of Chateau Francois Brugier which makes this classic Bordeaux white blend of Sauvignon and Semillon. The minerally, herbaceous freshness of the Sauvignon is given extra body and a richer, more rounded honeyed flavour by the Semillon, making this a perfect wine for food. And 2004 has proved an excellent vintage for whites thanks to its cooler start to the harvest, helping seal in freshness.
