Les Carrielles

Price on from Laithwaites.
Delicious, age-worthy Chenin Blanc with a medal-winning pedigree, this fresh and lively white is a long-time favourite. Made by expert Loire winemaker Eric Laurent from vineyards around Saumur - a picturesque medieval town in the Loire Valley's wine h eartland - Les Carreilles spends a year in the cool, deep limestone cellars characteristic of the area. The perfect temperatures allow the fruit and mineral flavours to develop fully, yet retain all the crisp freshness. Superb with grilled or poached fish dishes.

Marthinus Chenin Blanc
Marthinus Chenin Blanc - £30.74
Price on from Laithwaites.
The multi award-winning Bovlei winery has been at the forefront of the Cape's wine revolution, which has seen South Africa become a ''cutting edge wine producing country'', according to The Independent. This refreshing white is named after Marthinus 'Tiny' Broodryk who was winemaker at Bovlei for over 15 years. Now winemaker Frank Meaker has joined the team and the winery is going from strength to strength - as shown by their amazing medal collection! Deliciously zesty, with plentiful citurs aromas and generous tropical fruit on the finish. A great match to grilled seafood or a luxury fish pie!

Clos de Mont-Rachet
Clos de Mont-Rachet - £8.49
Price on from Laithwaites.
''One of the claims to greatness of Burgundy 2005 is the wonderful Macon-Villages whites'' - The Times Burgundy fans look to Macon-Villages for fine Chardonnay at a great price. Clos de Mont-Rachet is an 11th century vineyard famed and envied for its rich, elegant whites. Here in 2005 Alain Pierre made his best Mont-Rachet yet, exceptionally pure and wonderfully concentrated. Alain is a Chardonnay specialist extraordinaire winning both the French and International Chardonnay Trophies at the 2006 International Wine Challenge (although as a modest man he attributed all his success to his team and the fantastic Macon Villages terroir). Fresh and floral with enticing acacia aromas and lashings of lively citrus and tropical fruit. Try it with charcuterie, delicate fish dishes or ripe goat's cheese - a wine that's guaranteed to delight any dinner-party guest!

Blanc Neuf La Bastide
Blanc Neuf La Bastide - £79.99
Price on from Laithwaites.
Proudly showing its 'Best-in-Class' accolade, this brand new, golden white has real Grand Cru pedigree. It's made by Olivier Bayle (ex Lafite Rothschild!) and is so much like white Chateauneuf-du-Pape that our staff call it 'Baby Beaucastel Blanc' (a nod to the region's top estate). Olivier's big, rich reds have always been a huge hit - which is why he was delighted to take up our challenge to make a white every bit as serious. And what a triumph! A classic Rhone blend - Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne - barrel-fermented to add toasty richness to the crisp peach and apricot. ''This is beautifully balanced and creamily textured wine with an alluring, peachy nose and succulent honeysuckle and pear palate. A grand wine designed for fish main courses or roast pork, it is a real treat.'' Matthew Jukes

Groenendal Vineyards Chenin Blanc 2007
Groenendal Vineyards Chenin Blanc 2007 - £6.29
Price on from Laithwaites.
Chenin Blanc has been grown in the Cape since the first settlers arrived from the Loire Valley in the 1660s. It's found something of a home from home, giving supremely elegant, complex and long-lived wines - ''a vinous national treasure'' the Wine Spectator calls it. The Bolvei cellar in Wellington are celebrating their centenary year in 2007 - so it's clear they know a thing or two about producing wine in South Africa. Their stunning Chenin was made from grapes grown on the dramatic slopes of the Groenenberg mountain, during the outstanding 2007 vintage. Imagine biting into a crisp green apple ... then enjoying an explosion of ripe peach, citrus and guava. Delightfully mouthwatering on the finish, it's fantastic on its own or enjoyed with fresh grilled fish.

Murray Fishing Club Colombard/Chardonnay
Murray Fishing Club Colombard/Chardonnay - £69.99
Price on from Laithwaites.
When a bunch of Aussie winemakers invited us on a fishing trip, we were treated to a really refreshing white, crafted by the hosts and specifically for long afternoons on the river ... and this moreish, easy drinking white has become a huge favourite. The Murray Fishing Club may be an informal institution but they take their winemaking as seriously as their fishing. And this deliciously fresh, well-made blend of crisp honeyed Colombard and peachy ripe Chardonnay is one we didn't want to get away. Packed with enticing citrus, nectarine and peach flavours, it's wonderfully crisp and moreish. Perfect by itself or with freshly landed fish! However, although we secured our parcel at 'mates' rates', there's very little to go round. Cast us an order quick!

With over 500 medals (and counting), Bill's name has become a byword for quality as he pursues his aim to make excellent, handcrafted wines at affordable prices in the increasingly highly regarded Riverina region. Pale gold in the glass with fresh grass and melon aromas. Peach from the Semillon adds mouthfilling richness to the grassy, zingy Sauvignon Blanc. Really delicious straight from the fridge ...

Berton Weigh Station Chenin Blanc
Berton Weigh Station Chenin Blanc - £54.99
Price on from Laithwaites.
Aussie Bob Berton is an old friend who has made some of our favourite wines (think Willy Willy!). He has now invested in a cellar all of his own, and this white is one of his first releases. Chenin Blanc is a hugely versatile but under-rated grape. Best known in France's Loire Valley, it's capable of producing wines in a massive range of styles - all with a captivating and refreshing vibrancy. In Australia's warm climate, this grape stays crisp, fruity and fresh. Pale straw in colour with aromas of lime, passionfruit and apple tart. Generous passionfruit and kiwi flavours. Delicious on its own, or enjoyed with warm lime and coriander chicken salad, creamy fish dishes or simply cold meats.

Angove's Premium White Grenache
Angove's Premium White Grenache - £39.90
Price on from Laithwaites.
For five generations the fiercely independent Angove family (now headed by the founder's great-grandson John) have bucked commercial trends in favour of top-quality, personality-filled wines ... an approach that has won them over 400 international awards in the last five years alone! Planted over 25 years ago, their vines produced wonderfully rich fruit, full of flavour. Golden with crisp lemony citrus and extra juicy peach flavours, it's the perfect partner to grilled fish and Asian cuisine.

Tor di Monte Grechetto
Tor di Monte Grechetto - £35.94
Price on from Laithwaites.
One of Italy's great originals, cultivated since Roman times, Grechetto is a key component of the best known Umbrian white, Orvieto, and displays a wonderfully concentrated, refreshing elegance. Our specialist Italian Buyer was greatly impressed by this particular wine from the 11th century Tordimonte estate because it offers the same full-flavoured, fresh and nutty character of Orvieto minus the hefty price this famous name carries. Light golden colour, with subtle toasted almond, zesty lemon and floral aromas. Fresh, dry and ripe, it's perfectly suited to local specialities such as Prosciutto di Norcia (a quality cured ham) or freshwater fish and garden-fresh salads.

Don Cayetano Chardonnay
Don Cayetano Chardonnay - £63.99
Price on from Laithwaites.
With their fruit purity and naturally vibrant flavours, Chilean wines are hard to beat. And one of the country's leading small producers is the family-run Luis Felipe Edwards estate. Key to their success is that Luis Felipe and his son have planted vines high in the hills (up to 1000m above sea level) where long, warm summers and cool mountain nights produce grapes rich in flavour yet retaining a refreshing crispness. To make the most of these natural advantages, they've built a lavish, high-tech winery where winemaker, Patricia Gonzalez, created this cool-fermented unoaked Chardonnay. Golden, fresh and brimming over with attractive pineapple, citrus, melon and peach flavours. Ideal with grilled fish or delicately spicy shrimps.
