Molino a Vento Pinot Grigio Catarratto
Molino a Vento Pinot Grigio Catarratto - £37.74
Price on from Laithwaites.
''Sicily continues to shine as Italy's star performer'', (The Times) especially after a run of fabulous vintages - 2007 was a belter! Here, Italy's hottest grape, Pinot Grigio, is really starting to make waves. Hot summers and temperate winters lead to wines with great concentration, and far richer tropical fruit flavours than those from cooler climates. When teamed with the native Sicilian Catarratto grape, things really start to get exciting! Winemaker Giacomo Vaccaro has crafted this mouthwatering new white from morning-picked fruit in his high altitude vineyards. Fresh aromas of citrus and pear. Subtly barrique-aged Catarratto adds a little richness to the Pinot Grigio zing! Enjoy on its own or with freshly grilled fish.

Il Papavero Bianco
Il Papavero Bianco - £34.74

As many of you have already discovered, Papavero offer unbeatable value for money thanks to the innovative talent of winemaker Scipione Giuliani. He dares to flout strict wine laws by cherry-picking the best fruit from two regions, hence the VdT status and the great price! Brightwater Sauvignon Blanc
Brightwater Sauvignon Blanc - £54.74
Price on from Laithwaites.
''Don't bother searching for Cloudy Bay and save money with this terrific wine'' The Independent Brightwater Sauvignon 2007 is from New Zealand's Nelson region ... a short ride over the mountains from Marlborough. Small production and so strict allocation - especially for this highly regarded vintage, which was awarded 5* by Cuisine magazine and also 5* by respected NZ wine writer Michael Cooper - but we managed to secure some precious cases. Each vintage causes an avalanche of press acclaim. Since it burst onto the scene in 1999 it's won Golds above some of New Zealand's biggest names, has been awarded marks in the mid 90s from the great and good of the wine world and been singled out as one of the best Kiwi Sauvignons to drink with food. This year was no exception and the winery is going from strength to strength. Wonderfully intense aromas - fresh-cut grass, gooseberry, lemon - and rich, long-lasting flavours of zesty tropical fruits. Crisp, pure and lively, it makes an excellent aperitif but is fine enough to partner grilled fish (like turbot), lemon chicken or Thai food.

Dassen View Chenin Blanc
Dassen View Chenin Blanc - £37.74
Price on from Laithwaites.
Loire Valley variety Chenin Blanc has become a true speciality in South Africa, where it gives fantastically refreshing, zingy whites wines with a tropical fruit edge. Dassen View is made by Jacques Erasmus, a winemaker who, even by South African standards, is an expert in the grape - he made his first Chenin Blanc at the tender age of 12 using his parents' fridge! The grapes for his world-class wine come from a coastal vineyard in the Worcester region of the Cape, which benefit from cooling breezes that extend the growing period and help the berries achieve full ripeness, whilst still retaining the crisp, tangy fruit flavours. Seriously refreshing stuff! ''Pale lemon-gold in colour with aromas of lemon and crisp orchard fruit flavours. With its lively, green-apple character, this wine makes a refreshing glass any time. Enjoy as an aperitif or serve with prawn salad, grilled white fish with chilli salsa or a vegetable stir-fry.''

Lake Diamond Sauvignon Semillon 2007
Lake Diamond Sauvignon Semillon 2007 - £6.29
Price on from Laithwaites.
An enticing blend of aromatic Sauvignon and lemon-fresh Semillon, Lake Diamond is every bit as dazzling as its name suggests! Iconic winemaker, Rodolfo Sadler crafted this gem from small parcels of juice-filled grapes grown on Argentina's premium mountain-top vineyards. The winery is based in the Mendoza province of Laguna del Diamante (Lake Diamond) - so-called because a Volcano's reflection in the lake produces a perfect diamond shape. When Rodolfo first tasted this white, he thought it was as spectacular as the view from his window - so he named it Lake Diamond! Astonishingly fresh with breathtaking layers of pristine, mouthwatering fruit - a wonderful aperitif or great partner to grilled fish.
