Cornish Point Drystone Pinot Noir
Cornish Point Drystone Pinot Noir - £19.39
Price on from Laithwaites.
''At last Burgundy has a serious New World rival ... Central Otago will knock the rest of the Pinot Noir gang for six'' (The Times). Made along the organic lines, Cornish Point Pinot Noir is a stunning raspberry-scented red that's wowed the critics! Jancis Robinson called a previous vintage of this ''full, round and promising'' ... while wine-bible Decanter consistently offers sky-high scores! Steeped in history, the vineyard used to be a gold mining settlement in the mid 19th century. It was named Cornishtown around that time because of the prevalence of Cornish gold miners. At the edge of the vineyard there are still ruins of some early goldminers stone shelters. ''Fantastically rich, fruit-forward style of wine that belies its seriously elegant structure that supports long-ageing. Brimful of dark cherry, smooth Summer fruit, spice and a hint of smoke. A fantastic glass on its own!''
