Posada del Rey - £31.14
Price on from Laithwaites.
If you like the succulent, fruit filled reds of old Spain you must try Posada del Rey ... it's Rioja in all but name! Made purely with old-vine Tempranillo fruit - the backbone of the finest Rioja - sourced from vineyards in Rioja Alavesa (the best of the region's three enclaves) this satin-smooth, moreish red offers superb value for money. By law, estates are only allowed to sell a set quantity of wine with 'Rioja' on the label ... and we've managed to save the best of the surplus for you. Bright ruby, with deep flavours of juicy redcurrant, hints of plum and black cherry, with a silky smooth finish. Unoaked to let the fruit shine through, it's great with lamb or tapas and is a delight on its own too.

Cajado de Pastor Dao
Cajado de Pastor Dao - £44.34
Price on from Laithwaites.
The Dao region is the traditional heartland of Portuguese winemaking, producing some of the finest and longest lived wines available. Cajado de Pastor is so named because it comes to us from a leading figure in Portuguese wine who started life as a humble shepherd. Thanks to the influence of our 'mystery man', the wine is exceptional value - sourced from top estates at a fraction of the usual cost! All the vineyards are well established, unirrigated (for concentrated flavours) and the grapes are hand-picked. The wine has been vinified in a thoroughly modern and international style by a famous Portuguese 'Winemaker of the Year' Antonio Ventura from a fascinating and delicious blend of indigenous grapes. Dark, fragrant and packed with rich, dried fruit, it works beautifully with char-grilled flavours.

Pascal Bouchard Les Ouvrees
Pascal Bouchard Les Ouvrees - £79.99
Price on from Laithwaites.
Recommended by France's wine-buying bible, Le Guide Hachette, this superb white Burgundy is very much in a Chablis mould. Pascal uses Chardonnay grapes sourced exclusively from his vineyards in Auxerre just west of Chablis. The town of Auxerre is steeped in history - there were vineyards running up to the wall of the town as long ago as AD680! Today the Cotes d'Auxerre has seen a revival, although its principle market remains Paris. Pale straw colour with generous aromas of peach, apple and a hint of hay. Minerally, citrus flavours balance broader peach and butter notes.

Villa Mare Bianco
Villa Mare Bianco - £5.79
Price on from Laithwaites.
This gorgeous, green apple-fresh Italian is the ideal sunny afternoon quaffer. Made from a mouthwatering blend of local speciality grapes plus a dash of melony Chardonnay - it's great value for money! That's because the grapes are sourced from top vineyards in both Sicily and Italy's high Abruzzi hills - hence the humble Vino da Tavola tag. One sip and you'll agree it should cost much more. Crafted by talented young winemaker Scipione Giuliani ... the man behind your No.1 most reordered red, Il Papavero! Bright yellow in colour. Simple peachy and slightly grassy nose with a fresh, clean palate, hints of ripe peach and slight floral tones. Supremely quaffable at a great price.

Kelly Country Shiraz
Kelly Country Shiraz - £47.94
Price on from Laithwaites.
An exclusive sourced from a winery in Kelly Country, close to where the famous outlaw Ned and his gang had their final shoot-out. And this barrel-aged Victorian Shiraz comes from 2007's Drought vintage - it's big, hearty and gutsy. We found this very special parcel thanks to old friend Bob Berton. He has been acting as ''our man Down Under'' to help us get hold of the very best parcels as they arrive on the market. And with the current state of the market it's proved useful to have someone on the ground for insider tip-offs like this. Aromas of sweet plum fruit with a distinct peppercorn spice mixed with smoky oak and hints of dark chocolate. The rich, spicy fruit is brimful of black pepper and stewed plum flavours, nicely balanced by the sweet vanilla oak.

Made with 100% Tempranillo grapes, the wine has been aged in American oak for 12 months then matured for a further six at Martinez Bujanda cellars in Oyon. The Bujanda family bought Finca Antigua in 1998 just as the true potential of the La Mancha region was starting to shine through. The family's vineyards are in the higher parts of la mancha at 2400 feet above sea level. The variation between day and night temperature can be as much as 21 degrees which promotes more pronounced aromatics in the grapes. Hommage a Pierre Alexandre Jean-Marie Raimbault 2007
Hommage a Pierre Alexandre Jean-Marie Raimbault 2007 - £9.19
Price on from Laithwaites.
With centuries of Sancerre know-how, it's little wonder this is Sauvignon at its racy, medal-winning best! Using fruit sourced from a premium single vineyard, winemaker Jean-Marie Raimbault has produced one of the most intense, mineral-rich whites you're likely to taste at this low price! You'd be forgiven for not knowing of Coteaux du Giennois. The Sancerre lookalikes made here are very rare indeed. The region is a stone's throw from Sancerre itself, and the outstanding quality here has seen it awarded Appellation Controlee status, but prices remain in your favour. Why? Winemakers are unable to rely on the name (as yet) to sell their wines, so the quality has to speak for itself - and it really does! Especially when the Raimbault team are in charge, lavishing Hommage a Pierre Alexandre with all the care of their top releases. Exceptionally fresh and packed with vibrant cut-grass, gooseberry and green-apple flavours, Hommage a Pierre Alexandre Jean-Marie Raimbault has a mouth-biting crispness that Sauvignon fans will adore!

Price on from Laithwaites.
Perfectly ripe and spicy oak-aged Shiraz from the legendary Andrew McPherson - the man behind our big red, The Full Fifteen, and with over three decades experience in top flight Aussie winemaking. The fruit for this wine was sourced from the warm sunny vineyards around Mildura and then taken to Andrew's Nagambie winery in Victoria's Goulburn Valley. Here, the premium Shiraz grapes were gently crushed before the wine underwent a lengthy slumber in finest oak barrels. Deep crimson in colour with abundant ripe plum and redcurrant aromas. Deliciously complex thanks to well integrated oak and soft tannins - this succulent Shiraz would be an ideal partner to a juicy char-grilled steak.
