Bergsig Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Bergsig Sauvignon Blanc 2007 - £6.99
Price on from Laithwaites.
If you're a fan of great Sauvignon - from New Zealand or the Loire - you'll be delighted by this latest release from a former Cape Young Winemaker of the Year. It's tingling with vibrant citrus and fresh-cut grass flavours. Sauvignon Blanc is one of South Africa's most talked about wine styles and here you have the top cuvee of the multi award-winning Bergsig Estate in Worcester. On the opposite side of the de Toitskloof mountains from Paarl and Stellenbosch, it's cooler and drier and the climate produces a classic aromatic style. Sixth generation winemaker De Wet Lategan describes the 2007 as ''Pale gold with mouthwatering aromas of lime, white flowers and fresh-cut grass. Sauvignon Blanc at its most expressive - with an abundance of ripe citrus fruit''. Enjoy at its youthful best with vegetarian dishes, seafood salads, lemon chicken or creamy pasta.

Bergsig Estate Chenin Blanc 2007
Bergsig Estate Chenin Blanc 2007 - £6.29
Price on from Laithwaites.
At last the Chenin grape is getting the credit it deserves - thanks to South Africa's innovative Cape winemakers who cosset low-yielding, old vines to make impressive dry whites like this! Bergsig estate, owned by the Lategan family, is situated in the Worcester region on the other side of the mountains from Paarl and Stellenbosch. Enjoying its own 'microclimate' the region is drier and warmer than elsewhere- allowing the grapes to achieve maximum ripeness and richness. ''Made from 100% Chenin Blanc (known as Steen in The Cape) and unoaked, it has subtle aromas of lemon and lime, is crisp and rounded, with just a delicate hint of refreshing grapefruit on the finish.''
