Domaine Dampt Vieilles Vignes
Domaine Dampt Vieilles Vignes - £10.19
Price on from Laithwaites.
The exceptionally low-yielding vineyards - as low as required for Chablis with Premier Cru status - for Domaine Dampt Vielles Vignes lie right above those of the incredible Grand Cru Les Clos, the ''highest regarded of all Chablis Grand Cru'' (Jancis Robinson MW). It's no wonder then that this crisp, minerally white from the spectacular 2005 vintage shares so many of the characteristics of top Chablis and beat the lot in its section in prestigious French wine competition ''Tastevinage'' last Autumn! Fresh lemon and minerally hints, with a lively finish, Domaine Dampt Vieilles Vignes 2005 offers a taste of top Chablis ... without the hefty price tag!

Domaine Baille Carignan Vielles Vignes 2003
Domaine Baille Carignan Vielles Vignes 2003 - £6.95
Price on from Laithwaites.
An authentic taste of southern France! For centuries the Carignan grape grew high in the Pyrenees but now this big, black bruiser is almost gone - uprooted in favour of more commercial Chardonnay and Cabernet. Luckily some winemakers left theirs in! Made from hand-picked, low yielding old vines (some in excess of 100 years) at an award-winning, family owned property, this is deliciously concentrated and intense 100% Carignan - dark plum with mouthwatering aromas and ripe flavours of dark berries, damson and spice ... and smoothly warming alcohol. Supple enough to enjoy on its own, Domaine Baille makes a juicy partner for char-grilled steaks, rack of lamb or spicy butcher's sausages. So good that the owner of Chateau Valandraud, a top St Emilion winemaker, tried to buy some of their vines as he recognised the enormous potential and quality of their terroir.

Domaine des Herbauges Le Chant Baron Vielles Vignes 2006
Domaine des Herbauges Le Chant Baron Vielles Vignes 2006 - £7.55
Price on from Laithwaites.
''Loire Valley whites are tailor-made for summer, epitomising subtlety, elegance, freshness and crispness'' (The Daily Mail) ... and, with a string of Gold medals to his name, Luc Choblet makes some of the finest - so we were delighted to secure a parcel of his sublime old-vine Muscadet! ''One of the leading growers in the Cotes de Grandlieu'' (Decanter) Luc's estate is in prime Muscadet country. And this supremely talented Winemaker of the Year allows extra ageing 'on-the-lees' - adding a creamy richness rare in these Loire whites. A real treat! ''Pale gold with ripe, fragrant aromas - an enticing hint of pear balanced with zesty citrus flavours for a long, refreshing finish.''
